There was dried blood on the chairs and floor in the waiting room, spots of blood and secretions down the hall. There was feces and urine on the floor in the restroom, I have never been to a hospital with such deplorable cleanliness. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone contracts a disease from just sitting in the waiting room. A man about to experience a diabetic attack was asking the staff for help, a PATIENT helped him. I understand emergency rooms are often over flooded and understaffed, but the wait times are ridiculous, I was there for 8 hours. I cannot in good conscience recommend this emergency room to anyone who is experiencing a serious condition. The staff and patients deserve to be in better conditions than what I saw.
Was at the er last night with my pregnant wife. Waited 7 total hours to be seen. But, that's not the point of this review. While waiting, there was elderly man in his 70s. He had fallen down in the parking lot, crawled into the er, bleeding and gasping for air. EVERY SINGLE EMPLOYEE just ignored him. The ONLY person who showed any concern was the security guy. It took 15 minutes for someone to check on him. The part that got me was, the nurses were still calling people back, completely ignoring this old man. Every employee at that hospital should be flat out ashamed of themselves. Never in my life would I have expected to witness such a thing. I hope the man ended up being okay.
I've been a patient here for many years with my family as well. I highly recommend that if you receive care here to get it elsewhere. I contacted an ombudsman about an incident that happened with me a very unprofessional RN on the hospital property. I was told basically because I didn't know or ask her name that I couldn't be helped?! Are you serious what are the odds this disgusting employee of yours was going to even give it up. So patients can't act out, go intimidating your staff but your employees in uniform with a badge showing can. I'm not stupid and know this place has cameras everywhere. I was basically told too bad. Absolutely terrible that this is allowed by any staff with no consequences. I would be cautious with the care your loved one receive here. If this is how this employee acts with a family and patient outside of the entrance I can only imagine what she's like clocked in. Cleveland Clinic is highly rated, ranking #2 in the world by Newsweek for seven consecutive years as of early 2025. US News & World Report also named it one of the nation's best hospitals for 2025-2026, place. But can't look into an incident or camera footage to hold a paid employee accountable?! Give me a break.
These two at desk AVH1-411 are the rudest I just wanted to check in for my MRI and I felt like I was interrupting their office gossip the blue shirt was openly disgusted with with having to check me in that she answered the phone pointed to the door and said wait over there and someone will eventually assist you. Horrible experience the audacity that they would call on 9/10/25 to have the review and pic removed. They didn't care about my feelings but I should care about the providers? wow!
Emergency is a misnomer. Arrived 6 hours ago with breathing difficulties and chest pain. Was tested immediately for heart attack (negative) and then put in a wheelchair and told to wait in the lobby. I have been crying off and on and am humiliated to have to do this in front of everyone. It is 5:17 in the morning and I’m still no closer to any sort of relief or treatment. If anyone wonders why people don’t go to the hospital when something is wrong, look no further than Avon and its ridiculously dirty and dysfunctional ER.
