Would not recommend Dr Ackerman for care . The office dose not calculate your copayments correctly. You are not Guaranteed to see the Dr but redirected to see a nurse Practitioner . Who is very difficult to understand . The nurses that call to make sure you’re coming will cancel your appointment if you miss the call . They closed the plant city office and never notified the set appointments before hand . The never called to reschedule any appointments when the hurricane close the office for safety . This never felt like a personable Dr office , but a being processed office to me . I stoooed seeing them of my own choice months ago . Just to receive a collection call that I owed uncollected copays that they messed up on . As the office informed me it was my responsibility to make sure to know what my copay was supposed to be . This office isn’t patient friendly nor personable at all .
From the wonderful sweet gurls at the front desk to the amazing nurses or should I say medical assistants, to Dr. Ackerman himself & his PA, I got wonderfully taken care of & treated like a person, highly recommend Dr. Ackerman & entire office, also, easy to make appts. get refills on meds THANK YOU
Brought my mom here for an appt. Building is neat and tidy, parking is very tight. Bathroom was immaculate as was the waiting room. Dr. Ackerman won high praises from a picky patient, so we will be back. You can’t miss the building, bright white and navy trim, it sticks out in a see of brown brick and ugly buildings.
Dr. Ackerman really took the time to go over my sleep study results and communicate clearly about my diagnosis. I have since moved away but it has made me so thankful over the years looking back now that I had a doctor that took the time to listen to me and analyze my results to come to his conclusion. I have been to other doctors since Dr. Ackerman, and none of them measure up. I was diagnosed with a bit of an unusual sleep disorder called Narcolepsy. I got my original diagnosis in late 2019, and getting this diagnosis changed my life for the better. I cannot believe I went so many years without proper treatment, always knowing deep down that something was wrong. Now that I am actively being treated, I have accomplished more in the past 3 years of my life than I did for the 30 years prior. I am so thankful for Dr. Ackerman. I wish he was still my doctor now so I could thank him in person. Top notch. I would give them 10 stars if I could.
I was a patient of Dr Ackerman for the last couple of years. Due to a chronic low O2 blood level (O2 drops to 89% when wearing a mask - stroke potential), my Primary Care Provider gave me a letter stating that I should avoid wearing a mask. When arriving for my appointment and presenting the letter when asked to put a mask on, I was asked to wait outside (which I had offered to do). Dr Ackerman came outside and told me that because of their mask policy, I had to wear a mask or he would not treat me. I advised him of the O2 issue (he had the letter in his hand) and he said it didn't matter because they had a policy. I then asked if the policy preempted the patient's health and he repeated that he would not treat me. So, the policy is more important than the patient's health. So much for the Hippocratic Oath...more like the Hypocritical Oath.
