This review is specifically regarding my experience with an employee named Brittany Armstrong. I am sharing my experience so there is transparency and accountability, and so other patients are aware. Brittany initially contacted me by phone and told me that my iron transfusions were not approved by my insurance and that there was nothing else she could do regarding the situation. I was advised to contact my doctor’s office to see if they could resolve the issue. However, my doctor’s office was unable to do so because they had never received a denial or preauthorization form and therefore had no denial number or documentation to work with. Because of this, I went to The Medical Center at Russellville in person specifically to obtain a printed copy of the denial form so I could get the denial number and contact my insurance company myself to try to resolve the issue. I waited for nearly four hours before being told again that the transfusions were denied, yet no proof or documentation could be provided. At that time, I was informed that all denial paperwork had been shredded and that no information regarding the denial was available. I was also told that three different iron infusion options had been submitted to my insurance company and that all three were denied, even though my doctor had only ordered one specific iron infusion. This information did not align with what was actually ordered by my physician and added further confusion. Additionally, I was told there was no reason to send denial information to my doctor’s office so they could attempt to correct or appeal the denial, and that there was no need to place my physician’s order in my medical chart at all because the infusion was “denied.” This directly prevented my doctor from being able to address the issue and caused unnecessary delays in my care. When I attempted to escalate the issue at The Medical Center at Russellville , I was unable to reach anyone higher up. There was no patient advocate, supervisor, or leadership contact available to speak with. Because of this, I had no choice but to involve Bowling Green Medical Center to look into the situation. I do want to acknowledge that Bowling Green Medical Center, as a whole, made efforts to resolve the issue once it was escalated. Corporate billing and leadership staff were responsive, took my concerns seriously, and worked to clarify what had occurred. My intention in posting this is not to discredit the entire healthcare system, but to highlight a serious breakdown in documentation, communication, and access to patient advocacy at The Medical Center at Russellville. I hope this feedback leads to improved procedures so other patients do not experience similar stress or delays in care.
Poorly run. We took my father in law in after a stent with a severly painful leg that had turned blue. They sent him home with a heel spur boot. We knew that was way wrong and took him to Bowling Green where they did emergency surgery to remove a 6 inch blood clot in that leg. Fast forward until he died and they immediately filed a claim against the estate without ever submitting that bill to Medicare or his united health care secondary insurance. We finally got them to file with the insurance and it was paid. They never notified the collection agency that it was paid, delaying the probate process by several months. Still waiting 3 months later for the court to be notified. He died in early October of 24. Aug 10th 2025, they filed insurance claims for $33,000 for a 2 hr trip that they sent him to BG for almost a year ago. Again, this is a poorly run establishment. Would not recommend to anyone for anything more complex than a splinter.
I wish giving 0 stars was an option. I've never left a review in my life before but I felt this was worth the effort. If you are experiencing a cardiac emergency or any other emergency for that matter please save yourself and drive to literally any other hospital. My grandmother was transferred to this hospital from a local walk in clinic last week due to an active heart attack. The staff was unaware that my grandmother had not hung up her phone when she dropped it and I had to listen to her gasping for breath, crying out in pain and asking if she was going to die. Instead of treating or comforting her, they were repeatedly asking her to provide proof of insurance. I could hear multiple people in the room asking her were her insurance card was and asking her to look through her purse to provide proof of ID and insurance. They told her they had no trauma or cardiac doctors so they would be transferring her to bowling Green, after she gave them proof of insurance. She some how while in a cardiac emergency and struggling to breathe was able to give them her cards. At about this time my sister and brother in law arrived at the hospital and asked the lady at the desk where she would be transferred to. the lady actually told my sister they wouldn't relay that information until they had her insurance information. My sister had to go outside and get this information from the actual ambulance staff. The ambulance had her fully loaded in and then had to wait for the staff to bring back her IDs and proof insurance while my grandmother was dying. All of the information they needed had already been provided by to the walk in clinic that sent her to Logan. Please, if you actually feel you are in a life or death situation, avoid this place at all costs. I can not wait to see what they attempt to charge her for.
Came in thinking I had appendicitis. I was there nearly 5 hours and all I got was an IV the equivalent of Tylenol and a CT. By the end I got a diagnosis that was confirmed completely wrong by the surgeon on a follow up visit. I’m paying 1800 dollars to see the doctors face all of 2 times and getting a wrong diagnosis. Mind blowing how incompetent healthcare is
I normally have a good experience but they have lost lab orders three days this week and now we will have to go somewhere else after waiting for days and getting it re faxed, they still are not able to keep track of it. Make sure your dr is not faxing your labs or go somewhere else. It's getting ridiculous. Also had the registration clerk say you could come get labs any time but that is not the case. The lab closes at 6 for outpatient labs.
