I was asked to do a watch study to monitor my sleep pattern and assess watch. The staff was excellent and provided me with all the help I needed to conduct the study. Thanks Sabrina and Tim. I would highly recommend them.
Go somewhere else if you have any choice at all. Horrible experience from the bathroom not being in the room, zero way to clean up in the morning and the tech was rude! It took everything I had not to snap and go off on the lady. She was absolutely awful. She couldn't or wouldn't answer any questions. She refused to tell me what time it was when I got up to use the restroom, refused to tell me what time people normally leave and was very uncaring about my disability. I will NEVER use them again or recommend them to anyone.
This was my second sleep study done at this facility. Through out the years I have been evaluated by different facilities This is my least favorite. The only reason I go here is because I am a veteran and the VA has out sourced some of the medical procedures veterans need to different facilities. We don’t have a choice other than what town. Poplar Bluff is closet to me thus this is the place the VA’s has an company arrange and set up the appointments. The staff who have been present during both studies have always been polite. They do explain what is going to take place and answer all your questions. I didn’t have many questions since, as I stated, I’ve had numerous studies through the years. The reasons I am giving a low rating is as follows. 1- Both times I have arrived prior to the 8 o’clock appointments the doors are locked. They will not let you in to get out of the weather. You have to sit in your car until you know they are open. Other places have a place you can come into, sit and relax a little before you go to your room 2-They do not offer a pitcher of water at the bedside. Anyone who has a Cpap machine knows how they have the tendency to dry your mouth out, especially if you are a mouth breather. This time I knew to bring a drink to keep at bedside. They did offer a refrigerator for my drink but that would have meant having to wait until someone could get it for me. Also if anyone brings food that is perishable it would be in the refrigerator. Diabetic on insulin may require a snack of protein like meat or cheese that would necessate it being refrigerator. Of course they could always have peanut butter and crackers. A snack machine would be of benefit in case a bedtime snack is forgotten or left home Which brings me to my third point. 3- I know I am a mouth breather and have to wear a chin strap to help prevent my mouth from opening and making the testing not idea. I informed the tech that I need a chin strap. She brought several in. They were very used and part of one missing a piece. We were not able to find one that would work for me. Luckily I know I am a mouth breather and had one in my suitcase. What about those patients who are in for their first time? They would not be getting a true reading on the test. Hopefully one of the straps there would work for them 4- Although the linen appeared clean I did notice a few stains on the sheets. They told me at my last study when I asked for more pillows they only have two on the bed. Thankfully the condition that required me to elevate my arm has resolved and I no longer required as many pillows this study. Be advised if you have a pillow at home that you need to sleep comfortable or require more bring them. 5-The rooms do not have a bathroom. They have a unisex bathroom in the hall. Which requires that if you need to use it you have to have the staff come into the room and arrange all the equipment, unplug drop around you and go into the hall in your night wear. If you have had a study in the past you are aware there is a lot of equipment to unplug. This extra time to get the staff in the room, unplug everything and your walk down the hall causes you to be more awake and you might stand a chance of have a little bit of difficulty returning to sleep after everything is reattached. Thankfully the restroom was right outside my door. 6-There are not any call lights in the room. They have you to sit up on the side of the bed and wait on them to come into the room. They do monitor you as you sleep and were prompt to come into my room. This might present a problem to any elderly person to sit up or to someone with a handicap. 7- I require “white noise” to sleep. At home I use a fan for two reasons, the noise is constant and it helps me to sleep. Also, cpap machines have a tendency to make me warm. The circulation of air helps. They do have ceiling fans but they would not help with the white noise. My first visit at the sleep center they did not have a fan. This time they did. I do not know if it was the only one or if they had more 8-If
Nice staff, comfortable and clean facility. I had to have both a take home sleep study and then come back for one where I stayed all night. They explained everything clearly and were very helpful. They even had those sleep comfort beds in the rooms and tvs. It was not as big a deal as I thought it was going to be. Should have done it a long time ago.
The lady is very very rude. They got my information wrong and when I told her about she just kept blowing it off as a typo. Well then I guess you can send the bill to that person!! And the sign on the door says open 24 hours 7 days a week but when I arrived for my appt 8pm appt about 15 minutes early they were closed, so I called and that same rude lady said they will open 10 minutes to 8. Door sign must be a typo too!!! The lady also told my mother to be here at 7am to pick up but when she got here told my mom she had to wait until I wake up! Then why tell her to be here so early?!!! The front desk lady is so incredibly rude its ridiculous. If you can go somewhere else do it. Its not worth dealing with this lady.
