This review is specifically about Yasmeen Gowani, the pulmonologist. I saw her in April 2024 for a severe and persistent cough. She prescribed an inhaler and told me to take cough medicine. The cough continued and she continued to tell me to take cough medicine. At my insistence, she prescribed an antibiotic but the cough, shortness of breath, and other symptoms got worse. I called her office and her staff told me to give the antibiotics more time even though I had given them plenty of time. I had to beg her office to try another one but it did not work either. I ended up in urgent care and they ordered x-rays which led to a CT scan. The CT scan found that I had double pneumonia, bronchiectasis, and pulmonary fibrosis. When I took the scan results to her she suddenly decided to take an interest in my case and told me I needed a bronchial lavage, which I had. Gowani merely put in the notes after the lavage that I had pneumonia. Even after that finding she never ordered her own tests or a high resolution CT scan, which I was later told she should have done given the seriousness of my pneumonia and the regular CT scan results. My condition got worse, and finally, after over nine weeks, I was given the proper antibiotic by another doctor. I will never know whether I already had bronchiectasis and that caused the pneumonia or whether the 9-1/2 weeks of pneumonia caused the bronchiectasis. I've been told it is more likely that the pneumonia caused the bronchiectasis because that had never shown up before on a lung x-ray and now I have to do breathing treatments twice a day for nearly an hour for the rest of my life because of it. I was subsequently told by doctors that it is standard practice to order an x-ray if a senior has a cough for more than three weeks and it is standard practice and an absolute necessity to order breathing treatments for anyone with bronchiectasis. I was lucky to seek second opinions and I actually had no choice because I had been very sick by then and had lost over 25% of my weight. I went through 10 bottles of cough medicine while under her so-called "care." Because of her inattention to her duty, I was on my back and sitting on the couch so I could do airway clearance while still sick, which gave me terrible back problems from which I am still suffering greatly to his day. This woman has changed my life terribly forever. And for a walk-in urgent care center practitioner to order x-rays when Gowani should have done that to begin with says it all. Her written records are one-liners that don't say anything - nice way to try to cover her butt. Furthermore, she was very condescending and demeaning and made me feel like the illness was my fault. I don't smoke, drink, I exercised, and ate healthy, so it was nothing I did to myself and she was downright mean and dismissive. I shudder to think of how many people, especially seniors who are so vulnerable, have seen her and had irreversible problems because of her inattention. I would not go to this woman under any circumstances! Had there been a zero stars choice on here that's what she would have or even minus stars. There are plenty of good doctors in the Orlando area and I would never consider her one of them or trust her again.
First and foremost i love and trust Dr Gawani with my heart health. The entire staff of Gawani Medical Associates are awesome and really caring about your health. Ann & Anna are very helpful and just nice people who go above their job description. I have been going here for 8 years and will always return for my heart health.
Only God knows how hard it was for me to come to the cardiologist because I was so scared. This morning Lily was so kind to me when she put the Holter monitor on me, and it made me feel so much peace. Thank you so much for taking care of my health and for being such a wonderful person, Lily 💗
Everyone from the front desk from making my first appointment they made sure to get you in aspa...(Anna )was great in asking about canceled appointments and asked if I could come in earlier, me yes of course. All the ladies work hard there and I've been there twice. Great team work. Once you're in the back professional, courteous doctor's assistants. Guided and explain everything. So thank you on the pulmonary side. I wish my cardiologist was on my network I would have had both specialist at the same office.. Thanks again, Anna M
Judging by the reviews and responses back on those reviews. The promises made in improving they're front desk etiquette has not improved. I am currently on hold and have on hold for 35 minutes and counting. Was hung up on while on hold and had to call back. Had no problems picking up the phone the first time I called but as soon as I said I couldn't make an appointment for the first opening they had, I was put on hold. Called back after being on hold for 45 minutes. They were closed for lunch.
