He’s patient and friendly

I don’t understand how the events that unfolded today are even possible. Today, my significant other gets a phone call while at work around 12:30pm, which is also in the medical field, and she couldn’t answer. There was immediately a text message and then another call, to which she excused herself from her patient and answered. We were told that there was an unexpected opening for this evening, and we needed to be there by 8. There was a 7 hour window from the phone call to the appointment time. Due to our work schedule, we rushed home grabbing take out so our little one had time for a bath and dinner before the appointment. We made an attempt to call about 7:45 pm, calling both the number on the website and then the number that called because there was nobody at the office. At 8 pm, the staff arrived, as well as another patient. We were immediately turned away, basically being told too bad because we weren’t on the list. The employee stated he would provide a number for a supervisor, but only if we called in front of him, which is incredibly unprofessional. He then stated that the call center does this quite frequently and that there is no recourse for the actions. Not only did we keep my child out past her bed time, we were driving over an hour to bring her to this appointment and then wasting both time and money for zero reason. If the other patient confirmed their original appointment, that’s completely understandable, but if they were so aggressive to fill the original appointment, are we unable to be just as diligent to follow up? Quite unacceptable.
