I never thought i would review an emergency room but he we are! Saturday my mom was having a medical emergency and this was the closest hospital so this is where we went. The ER has limited parking which was confusing but we got inside and she was quickly checked in and taken for imaging. Her pain continued to increase and they took it seriously and got her right back for treatment (though this was a true medical emergency and many people waited for a long time so have realistic expectations). She had 3 ER nurses. The first nurse was great, I didnt get her name. The second was Tiffany. Tiffany is a different type of nurse and she was amazing with my mom. She was patient and clear and also still caring. She treated my mom with so much respect during one of her worst days. I really liked her a lot! ...and then there was Evelyn. The nurses here are outstanding! Evelyn was kind and laughed at all my moms jokes (she deals with stress by using humor), she always explained what was going on and explained why certain things took awhile (we were there a very long time but felt informed). She finally got admitted and put on the 4th floor where the care was again, amazing. She saw several doctors who were all very down to earth and had several nurses. She really liked Mary and I really thought Kendal was great but there were so many great medical professionals at this location that treated my mom with respect and dignity. It means so much when someone is basically feeling like their body is failing them to have people continue to treat them with dignity and kindness. She was discharged today and was set up with a doctor there to continue after care. I know some people say negative things about this place but they did right by my mom with every single step and possibly saved her life. I have nothing bad to say about any of the care she was given and im glad that we went here. BUT you cannot expect a quick visit at any hospital so you have to have realistic expectations.
The staff here was very caring. I've never in my life been taken seriously by medical staff. That's what put me in the position I was in. They treated me with kindness, respect and integrity. They saved my life, literally. I thank everyone involved with my care, from emergency to ccu.
So I never do reviews, but decided after our personal experience I would. We were in town visiting our daughter at HPU. My husband woke me up due to extreme pain. This was the closest place and I rushed him to emergency room. They were quick and very helpful!! I might add this was midnight. He had a room a few short hours later because he needed to have gallbladder removed. Every single person we came in contact with starting in the emergency room- to nurse staff, Doctors, surgeons, food workers, room cleaning staff, etc were beyond kind, so attentive, plus very helpful! I will also say place was super clean and did not have that hospital smell. We noticed they cleaned with vinegar and some solution that again made place so clean. One sweet woman went out of her way to find me a special chair so I could sleep when husband in surgery. I was nervous after reading reviews but our personal experience from beginning to end was honestly the best hospital experience we have had. My husband was in from Saturday to Tuesday so we had plenty of time to see any issues. We saw none! I can’t speak to any of the other reviews or experiences. But we live in Raleigh and I have had my daughter plus other family members in the Duke or Wake Med system. This is by far the best hospital experience we have ever had! Thank you from our family and for taking such good care of us being from out of town dealing with this emergency! We are grateful!! THANK YOU for all you do! We know it is not easy and it can be a grind but know we appreciate you! May God continue to bless you all! Let’s just say you made a terrible situation better for us! 🙏❤️
Please get more help or renovate!!! Not being able to take patients back is a problem and not having enough room is a problem!! Its been 3 hours and we have only gotten bloodwork and ekg barely any seats for anyone in waiting area!!! They are also tacky and super unprofessional using a phone flashlight for an exam. Giving an IV when fluids are fine. They are genuinely just pulling stuff out of their butt to try and say they "treated" you.
Came in with a lot of symptoms, had a seizure and instead of being attentive, eyes were rolled, I gotten a very uninterested doctor, and walked out the same as I came in. They put me in the room in the far back and literally forgot about me for hours. I’m listening to everyone else get amazing treatment and no one came to check on me. Gotten hung up on my call bell multiple times, and apparently when I made a request and my nurse sent over a chat to the physician, she was ignored and did not get a response. Also my physician was called away for extensive amounts of time, and seemed so disinterested when he came back. Zero bedside manners. Had a few good nurses who actually started being attentive at the end after seeing how Dr. Woody had no sense of urgency about me. There was no real solution seeking and they let me walk out with a fever. If you don’t have textbook symptoms they don’t care. They don’t see the patient as a whole. Being able to have stable vitals while being ill is a blessing and curse. Because every time you try and get help, you get over looked. Male smugness in healthcare must be STOPPED! Do your job or find another career!
