I was sent to the Carilion Sleep Center because of a TBI in 2023 which has brought me severe pain and a severe lack of sleep. The Carilion Sleep Center Technicians are courteous, very informative and understanding to needs is the clients to a point of excellence! Shelly administered my first sleep study and was very explanatory and professional in her performance of her duties in my sleep study. Shelly was very attentive to me setting up four times due to nerve burn in my arms and was on the intercom checking on me each time. Laura administered my second sleep study setting up the CPAP/BIPAP and was clear and explanatory of the details and expectations of the sleep study. Laura was attentive to every detail during the night and to every move and conflict in my breathing arriving at a professional decision choice which worked well and brought me to a deep sleep. Laura’s professionalism is beyond my expectations and even my anticipation of professional excellency. I am so thankful for the effort and willingness of the CNRVMC Sleep Center employees, Shelly and Laura, to help me get a real nights sleep, restful sleep! I am very anxious and excited to get my BIPAP and get deep restful sleep. Thanks Carilion Sleep Center at CNRVMC

After the study I saw a practitioner not a doctor. I never received a copy of the sleep study so when I saw him, I had no idea what to ask. I got it a month later from the CPAP people, not the hospital. I sent a form to the practitioner that needs to be filled out so I can renew my driver's license. It's been 10 days and no form was sent back. The study said I should lose weight, nobody told me until I read the study. They seldom return phone calls. After 6 weeks I'm still "in the dark." Beware.

Despite confirming multiple times that this study was covered by my insurance, I was hit with a $700 bill unexpectedly. I worked with the staff there to redo the claim with a doctors referral indicating that is was necessary but this did not change the bill I received. I know they aren't to blame for this and that insurance is really annoying. Years after the sleep study I was issued a new bill for the same amount and given a very short time frame to pay before it being turned over to a collection agency. I decided to apply for financial assistance I am now in iteration 5 of my application with different updates with the deadline fast approaching and no way to stymie the turn over to collection (DESPITE HAVING AN ACTIVE APPLICATION). The financial services department is not at all helpful or understanding and at this point I feel as though they are intentionally volleying my application back until it is no longer their problem and this case gets turned over to a debt collector. I do not recommend going here. Find somewhere else.

I think the girl doing my sleep study was a former prison guard or thats where she would be best suited. Not in a medical field where compassion is needed. She's absolutely 💯 the worst nurse. Ive ever encountered. I'm 45 years old. This lady got mad at me for pulling my mask off. This was the REASON for the sleep study. I wasnt able to use my cpap because it make me feel claustrophobic, like I'm not getting air. So Doctor set up the sleep study. So I they could help me find the proper mask and settings. Apparently the technician/nurse wasn't aware of that. She gets angry when I have to pull the mask off. She gave me the impression she was super busy. But later, I saw there was only my vehicle and one other vehicle in the parking lot. So If that wasn't her vehicle. She only had one other patient. I have Crohn's Disease also. I've had 1000s of nurses. She is by far the worst. It's not even close. She works in a sleep clinic. But gets upset at you for having sleep issues. UNBELIEVABLE!! Please think twice before going to this clinic. If your having cpap issues.

I had a great experience at the Sleep Clinic. Allison at the front desk was so nice, courteous and professional. She made me feel at ease. Kellie, FNP was excellent in the diagnosis of my sleep anomalies. I am confident that my sleep issues will be resolved. Thank you!
