Nurses and staff very nice. But we waited for hours only to hear everything came back ok. She got home and started vomiting brown liquids and when I called they said they can’t evaluate over the phone coming back is up to the patient. Felt as if I could have got better medical expertise off web md 10/10 on nice friendly staff 0/10 on actual medical treatment!

The way nurses treated my mother tonight was absolutely disgusting! I can't even believe how they have acted. It seems the most this er can do it small cuts and bruises. Everything else is out of their expertise! All because they couldn't figure out what to diagnose her with they assumed she was faking and treated her as such! Even doing so much as throwing a patient in a chair when she had no control of her body leaving her there like a rag doll all while say disturbing things to my mother! I honestly don't know how that nurse can sleep at night. They refused to help her and refused to let us seek other help by not letting her discharge until she "woke up". We asked for a transfer because they clearly were not helping nor knew what was going on and they LAUGHED in our face! This hospital is a disgrace I wouldn't even recommend this place to my worst enemy.

I came to St Anthony’s tonight. As a medical professional, who very recently worked in ER, I can say this ER needs some help/ guidance / training??? This was my first time coming to this hospital, but now that I live in Alton, I wanted to go somewhere close to home. BIG MISTAKE. I gave one star because the nurse who triaged me was very kind. And she listened. Once I got placed in a room, 5A I believe. I Sat there for 1 hour before I went to the nurse’s station to see if they had forgotten about me. At the nurses stations, there were like 7 nurses. Eating food, chatting it up, having a good ole time. And I’m thinking to myself (none of them had the time to come greet me and /or let me know the doctor is very busy). The nurse on the phone says she’ll “try to see when the doctor will see me” and says they only have one doctor. Other smaller hospitals have one doctor(and an NP) and I’ve never waited this long to be seen. After almost 2 hours, I just left. Like there should be some kind of protocol. Obviously there was no emergency because all the nurses were at the desk! Like this is unacceptable. I will be filing a complaint with the hospital. This was my first and last time going to St Anthony’s.

The ER is awful!! Do not go there. I waited two and half hours before anyone came back into my room after they started an IV (didn’t leave me a call button). Then the doctor didn’t take me seriously even though my GP sent me there from their office. He just gave me band-aid meds and said that’s all they could do. What a joke and a waste of time! This was my second horrible experience with their ER. I will NEVER go back and I would never recommend them!!
