ER is absolutely the worst, I went because I have fluid in my lungs from my cardiomyopathy. The front desk woman got attitude because I told her my pharmacy and she had absolutely no idea where Roanoke was. I had to look it up in my phone and give her the address. And then she was incredibly rude because she didn't know the closest city in Virginia to Martainsville apparently. She then was talking to the triage nurse. When I sat in with the triage nurse she claimed she wouldn't ever talk about patients in that area, but then said "you use 'name' pharmacy in Roanoke" when I hadn't said which one I use. I told her you lied and then you blew hippa and patient confidentiality and it's highly illegal. She tried to say no I didn't, she just told me which pharmacy you use. However she was standing there talking to this woman for more than 5 min. I got up and walked out, it's truly sad how these laws are ignored by some hospital staff. They are there for major reasons. Period. I will absolutely never return to this hospital nor will I ever recommend anyone to go there. If I could've given them a negative star review I would have.
I have been a patient in the hospitals Cancer Clinic since 2012. That ought to say a lot about the staff and what they do. Professional doctors and nurses. Admin staff is superb. When you enter they greet you will a smile and care. I must point out how good the nurses are. They make me feel like I am a family member and care for me appropriately. Those who live in in this area are fortunate to have access to such an excellent facility. I have been an overnight patient in the main hospital too and my experience there was equally superb.
Surgical staff in all aspects where PHENOMENAL! However, upon being moved to a room (or should I say closet) I had 2 nurses that where nice; Symone` and I'm not sure what the last one's name is. The C.A. did not completely understand English and jerked my leg up (complete knee replacement, my night nurses, one to take vitals, one to do meds were about as friendly as a grizzly bear). My nighttime antibiotics where over an hour late and yet she was found at the nurses station on her phone. I get it people are stretched thin or need a break here and there. But, I was in a room so small in order to use my walker furniture had to be moved into the hall. The heat did not work in my room. It blasted freezing air the entire time. Needing to get the right knee done also but I don't think I could deal with the hospital and lack of compassion again. No one comes to check on you, my room was NOT handicapped friendly at all and I didn't even bother the nurses not once so I don't know what was going on. I've left their names out of this since it's not raving to their advantage.
Great staff! But the hospital and physician bill are charged separately and way too costly. My son had a minor injury that required local numbing to remove the foreign object and now we are paying over $5,000 in total ER Bills for it. Was told if I pre-paid that my bill would be reduced to what I paid at the time of service to around $300. Really dissatisfied with the billing deception. Update 11/3/25 Called their customer service phone number per their response to my initial post. They are unwilling to assist in anyway with the billing price-gouging and deception. Very disappointing and was a complete waste of my time.
I needed to bring my fiance in to the ER last night. Let's be realistic, no one enjoys needing to go to the hospital, but everyone we encountered made it as pleasant of an experience as you could hope to have. We were treated with respect and kindness, and the wait time was very reasonable. Nicholes Dasovich, PA was wonderful to work with and was very thorough in his diagnostic approach. There were a few others that helped us as well, but I did not get their names. We could tell they actually truly cared about helping him, and that's a tough thing to come across these days. Thank you all!!!
