I went to see neurologist, Dr. Daren Butler a couple of months ago for a concerning issue that turned out to be nothing to worry about. I've been going through various treatments and was having many residual issues from required protocols. Dr. Butler was absolutely wonderful. Very thorough, kind and compassionate during my appointments and I'm so happy I found this wonderful specialist. I highly recommend Dr. Butler and his kind staff in Pasadena, TX and at MHSE hospital for any suspected neurological needs!
Stay away from Dr. Kathleen Eberle if you're a migraine sufferer! She is incredibly dismissive, apathetic, and has horrific bedside manner. My appointment was at 1pm and I had to wait until 2pm to see her; an entire hour! That is absolutely unacceptable and disrespectful of my time as a patient. When she did finally come into the room, she didn’t make eye contact with me once or even apologize for the ridiculously long wait time. She went straight to the computer and began typing. She never asked my medical history and would cut me off as I was speaking. I explained that I was coming to establish care for severe migraines and she continued to refer to them as "just headaches." I can assure you as someone who has lived with migraines for 10+ years; they are very different than just headaches. They are debilitating and diminish my quality of life. I can't do anything when I have a migraine but sit in a dark, quiet room and take a nap in between vomiting and sobbing from the pain. Even after I corrected her multiple times, she continued to minimize my experience and referred to my migraines as just headaches. I realized she didn't care when she asked me if anyone else in my family suffered from "headaches," and when I responded with I'm unable if anyone in my family suffers from migraines. She LAUGHED AT ME, pulled down her glasses and said, "oh really no one in your family has headaches." Of course it sounds stupid when you, as a doctor, fail to understanding the difference between debilitating migraines that Tylenol doesn't fix and "just a headache." She then proceeded to ask me to do a series of tests without telling me what they were for and what she was testing for. I have a medical background and knew she was preforming parts of the stroke scale but what if I didn't know. She didn't explain anything, she was awful. She just told me to increase my medication and message her in the portal when I need another prescription. This all happened in 15 minutes! I waited 1 hour for 15 minutes in which I was gaslight and received the worst care I've ever experienced. What's better is when I went to check out. I was told I could just follow up with the PA. Really? So, that's it. I see the doctor for 15 minutes and then get pushed to the assistant? Horrific service. I paid 40 dollars for what turned out to be the absolute biggest waste of my time. I'd love to get my money back but it probably won't happen. At least I've learned to stay far away from this place and the condescending Dr. Kathleen Eberle.
Ms. Helen's conduct was unacceptable and unprofessional. While Dr. Butler's actions may have violated ethical standards, mirroring a similar Tennessee case. This does not justify Ms. Helen's failure to protect her employees. Medicaid and Medicare patients receive demonstrably more respectful treatment than privately insured patients. I wish them well in their endeavors, but I will not participate.
If you are paying cash, STAY AWAY!!! Besides the fact you will never see the same doctor twice, or let alone see the doctor you are supposed to see and be handed to an assistant (your doctors will repeatedly cancel your appointments, so if time is an issue… good luck), they will BLATANTLY LIE ABOUT COSTS!!! Every single time I have gone there, they will always change the amount due once there! It doesn’t matter if you spend an hour on the phone with them to get an actual cost. IT WILL CHANGE AND NOT IN YOUR FAVOR!!! Just had a televisit a month ago, and the “doctor assistant” confirmed my price, which I paid. All of a sudden I have a “new statement” saying I owe them! $200-300 for a telecall for a few minutes of a follow-up. 😂 My final cash price given to me is now being called an “estimate”. Save your time. Find a real doctor that will see actually you, and pray they have a staff that will treat you like a human. These people are all about your money, not your health.
Dr. Praviti always listens to my concerns. She doesn't rush through the appointment as if I'm just a number or someone she needs to hurry along so she can get to the next patient. She really has best interest in mind and takes into account if I have any reservations taking the time to explain things. She also tries to help with insurance issues. She is very good about getting back to me with any immediate concerns I have even on non-appointment days.
