Just wanted to share what a positive experience we had during a recent sleep study. The nurse, Olivia, was absolutely fantastic throughout the whole process. She made everything so much easier for our little one. Seriously, it was a relief to have someone so caring and attentive. We're so grateful for her help in making it a good experience for our toddler.

We brought our child here for a scheduled specialist appointment that was referred by her pediatrician. The doctor and location were listed as in-network, so we expected to pay a $75 copay. Instead, we were billed $500 for a hospital visit and $1,050 for a doctor visit in a hospital — a total of $1,550 for a 45-minute consultation. Even our insurance company (Aetna) questioned the coding at first, but the facility’s billing department confirmed this was “correct.” At no point were we informed that the visit would be billed as a hospital service rather than a standard office visit. This feels like non-informed consent and predatory billing. Families deserve transparency before care is provided — the same way a dental office explains costs before a major procedure. Instead, this facility misled us into thinking we were paying a simple specialist copay and blindsided us with hospital-level charges afterward. Parents, be cautious: what seems like a routine specialist appointment here may cost you thousands of dollars.

I’m very disappointed with our experience at the Children’s Health Sleep Disorder Center. Beforehand, we consulted with them to understand the costs and were led to believe more was covered. We paid a significant amount out of pocket and then received additional unexpected bills later. Their billing process was never clearly explained, which added unnecessary stress for worried parents. The sleep study itself was uncomfortable for my son. There was no real follow-up; no “How did it go?” or “Should we repeat the test for accuracy?” They simply sent the results to the doctor and that was it. The one positive was the staff member who worked with us.She was kind and caring. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience felt rushed and inflexible. My son was in an unfamiliar environment, couldn’t fall asleep easily, and had to wake up very early, which made the test even less representative of his normal sleep. To any parents reading this, know that there are other options. I recommend searching for other sleep study locations that may provide clearer communication, better follow-up, and a more child-friendly experience. We will certainly not return here for our next study unless there are significant changes in how they operate. ———— Update 8/13/25: message to the gentleman who tried to reach out to me today from the Sleep Center. Mike, I saw you tried to reach out while I was working. I appreciate your call. I tried calling back multiple times but I couldn’t get a hold of a human. I pressed ‘1’ to find you through the scheduling team. But sat on hold for 5 min. Tried getting through to a doctor but the call was just empty air and and no one responded. Please feel free to call back. If I’m working please provide a better way to contact you. Thank you.

I usually only come on Google review to give five stars to my favorite places, leaving the less than desirables alone, but the experience here was just…deserving. I would give it zero stars, if I could. This clinic is stuck in 2020. They have to buzz you in to get through the front door, and as soon as you’re in they ask, “Have you been sick in the last 24 hours?!” It makes you feel like you’re in the hellscape that was 2020. I can let that go though, because many children who get sleep studies may be immunocompromised. Okay okay, calm down and move on. - The two women in charge of the front desk were highly unprofessional, one more than the other but I didn’t get names. I was handed an iPad to submit my child’s information, and taken back 10 minutes late. The man who walked us back was very nice. Now let’s get to the vulturisitc part. Children who are taken to a sleep disorder center need help, and they’re -literally- exhausted. Their parents are probably just behind them in exhaustion and sick with worry. The RN I saw with my child was Maria Rodriguez. We got the nice little surprise in the mail that she bills separately through UT Southwestern. Aww. Thanks for the heads up! She had no proper or knowledgeable rapport with a worried child. She openly and audibly described in detail the possible horrors of sleep apnea. This is something my child doesn’t need to hear, as he was already anxious to attend the meeting. She totally disregarded the options for reducing the likelihood of sleep apnea in children. Specifically telling me a frenectomy for a tongue-tied child does not lead to reduced apnea. I’m grateful my dentist is a whole lot more knowledgeable. My child left terrified. Now the cherry on top! This NURSE visit charged my insurance separately and without conversation or transparency. They claim the transparency is hidden in the consent forms which state I understand they may bill separately. Sure, that’s how insurance works. BUT, I approached the front desk once more on the spot asking if they needed my insurance and what I owe, and they just sent me on my way leaving me under the impression there was no charge FOR A CONSULTATION. This literally could’ve been a 5 minute phone call. My child wasn’t even evaluated. I should’ve gone with my gut and walked out as soon as that buzzer decided to let me in.

My overall experience with my kiddo was ok. Our Patient care technician was not welcoming at all, didn’t introduce herself. She seemed annoyed from the start! Poor customer service, lacked on explaining the process, lack of Kindness, Patience, Empathy and Compassion. I don’t understand it’s a children’s center! Like smile Lady, give a warm care (SHANETTA JONES)! Other than that, the Sleep Center is neat, front desk very friendly and welcoming. I almost decided to leave & reschedule but I decided to stay as long she didn’t become rough to my child/had few hours left…..PARENTS RECOMMEND AVOIDING THE CAREGIVER/PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN FOR GREAT EXPERIENCE.
