So I took the home sleep test. I received the results through my portal. No one calls you back for days. I finally reached out at a week. The tech did a quick rote run down and tells you to go buy a CPAP. No mention of mouthguards or any idea what's causing the mild APNEA. I have an appointment with a top ENT group to help me figure out the problem (NOT UTSW!). The next available appointment with Joy Ramos, a PA, was four months out LOL. Heaven forbid how long to see an MD. Here's my take, Don't bother with these hospital sleep labs or sketchy sleep shops. You will not deal with real doctors at any of them. Like going to a mall vision shop. Go to CPAP.com or other well reviewed site. Take THEIR home sleep test for a couple hundred dollars (I imagine greedy UTSW changed my insurance thousands). It's the same WatchPat UTSW uses with very little guidance. The online will review your options and even set up a doctor call. Don't use UTSW. They are huge disappointment, very expensive (pretty nervy with my tax dollars except those beautiful new buildings are pricey). I have lived in Dallas for years, and here's my take. UTSW used to be great. They still are if you have a rare serious disease. Otherwise you are better off outside their system. Dallas is so big now with so many older sick people with serious chronic problems. Walk in there. Most of the people look pretty bad. The UT docs source their patients into other areas like sleep which is overwhelmed. It takes months to get in and very impersonal. And very expensive. In addition, Primary care is now their weakest department. They import the docs from overseas. After three tries to find a good one, I switched to another hospital system. Hats off to Dr. Bliss, the only good doc I ever found. She was just too far away, and the Richardson office staff is rude and uneducated. (still takes a year to get in as a new patient). Same thing with sleep staff. So steer clear of UTSW unless you have a very serious illness that no one else can diagnose.

The person who demonstrated the sleep apnea test equipment was nice, but heaven forbid they should manage to submit a cpap order or prescription in a timely fashion. Maybe I need to find a better clinic…

This outpatient evaluation was delayed in scheduling and I still do not have the reading even though it was labeled as"expedited". Staff were rigid and appeared more interested in the equipment than the patient. I still have not received billing but with significant coverage it j should not be an issue. As a long term patient at UTSW I am clearly disappointed in continuity of care.

This was my first time ever getting checked out about my sleep issues. I seen Mark Dula and he was phenomenal! He was so knowledgeable about sleep and what could be going on with me. I learned a lot from him. The moment he walked in the room, I felt comfortable. He’s very approachable, easy to talk to and funny. I would recommend him, you will not be disappointed! Thank you Mark for such a great experience ‼️

While the staff is very knowledgeable, they are not always reachable. I was having migraines associated with the prescibed treatment, but when my primary care doctor tried to call on my behalf, the entire staff was unavailable for 4 days. Also, beware of charging. I asked upfront about cost and was told $50 for the sleep study, but they did not include all the other expenses which totaled $850, my cost. They charged "hospital fees" of $800 for an unattended sleep study I did at home. My insurance paid half.
