I was admitted on Wednesday. I am so throughly impressed by the care I have received. There was some miscommunication from the residents but the attending, Dr Hill, was extremely apologetic and made sure I was taken care of with clear instructions. My nurses Vonda and Joselyn are two of the most skilled and caring nurses I’ve ever met. I feel so cared for and in good hands. I have had an amazing experience here and am happy to say I very much recommend UVA.

My Fiance had to have Mastectomy here , They sent her home with only 5mg Oxycodone only 40 hours worth , just 1 n half days of pain med for removing her breast , ive tried calling the number they gave us to reach a surgical resident but all my calls have been ignored and not returned , They expect her to suffer through this and its complete b.s ! This place is a absolute joke her surgeon Shayna Showalter is a joke also ! Do not go to this hospital or this surgeon, They dont care about their patients id never took her here if I had known , dont make our mistake! I'd give this damn place a zero rating if I could cause it sure doesn't deserve 1 star !!!!!

My grandfather was sent to this hospital last October with a nose bleed that the UVA Augusta hospital in Fishersville couldn’t stop, he was on blood thinners, and in the ER for 10+ hrs as I watched him slowly bleed out, that ER Dr yelled at me, I was there with my two young boys till they decided to transfer him to this hospital. And again he got transferred at 3am arrived and again was in the ER the entire day, they didn’t get him to a room till 9pm after showing up at 4am and still bleeding. Several blood transfusions later, because he was bleeding out, he gets to a room. Where he contracts CDIFF because although everyone was told to suite up after he was given the new diagnosis, the nurses and food delivery people just came in and out like normal, so no wonder he contracted CDIFF and the worst part they didn’t even notify us he had this so when my 60+ year old mother came to visit her dad, they didn’t notify her of this contagious disease he contracted while in their hospital. They did get his nose to finally stop bleeding, the nurses where horrible, they mistreated my grandfather, and then told me they where releasing him, again he still had CDIFF, he was weak and unable to control his bowel movements, they wheeled him to the lobby and left him there for me to pick up, the valet had to help me get my poop covered grandfather who was very weak into the car. I had to have help getting him in the home and had to do everything to help my now bed ridden grandfather get cleaned up and better. They didn’t send him with meds, or speak to me about at home heath help or care. Again, they threw him out in the lobby covered in his own feces. This hospital isn’t a good hospital and all theses so called TEAMS of drs they have, seem to only care about collecting a check from old sick people, not actually caring. I’d wouldn’t recommend or go here even if I where dying, I’d take my chances someplace else.

My stay at UVA was absolutely amazing. I was scared and a lot was going on and everyone in and on my care team, knew what was going on and my urology team was absolutely phenomenal. Nurses, EVT, Dietary, providers, techs, literally everyone. They all listened to me and really listened. Everyone was on the same page. I did not go without anything. Never did I stay in pain, or nauseous. I had to have a procedure done in IR and Amanda RN and Dr. Barrera were 10/10, they all were but those 2 stood out and they know why. Leigh Ann, Misty, Chev, Anna, Nina , Aileen and Tina on 5 central, oh my gosh, I can’t say enough good things. Thank you to all of them for being so amazing and doing what they do.

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Dr. Poveromo, the entire staff, and all the amazing nurses at UVA Hospital who took such wonderful care of me. From the moment I arrived, I felt supported, respected, and truly cared for. Dr. Poveromo’s kindness, professionalism, and attention made a world of difference during a difficult time. The nurses were not only skilled but also incredibly compassionate—always ready with a gentle word or helping hand. I’m deeply grateful for everything you all did for me. Thank you for treating me like more than just a patient
