Edited because I left this review for Truman Hospital - but they have since updated this place and have it listed as “Center for sleep health”. I don’t know why they changed it, but this review was made for Truman Medical Center I had my daughter here because they were the only place that would take a transfer patient at 28 weeks along. It was absolutely horrible. They let me labor for 36 hours before taking me to c section, the nurses and doctors didn't explain to me ANYTHING about what to expect, what was going to happen to me, or the recovery. I hated everything about this place and I felt like I was in prison until they finally let me go home. Worst experience of my life. I wish I could give zero stars.

I feel that even a one star review of this hospital is incredibly generous! In truth it deserves to be shut down. It’s surprising to me that a facility this incompetent continues to receive such generous funding. After SEVERAL YEARS of attempting to “establish care” at this facility, I have still not actually seen a medical professional who is willing or able to address my health care needs. Every visit I am charged a $40 co pay or worse, to see a doctor who explains they are on their way out and they will schedule me to see another doctor and reschedule me for another appointment 6 months out. This has been going on continuously for years! When I show up for my appointments to “establish care” it’s the same routine, over and over. Continuously shuffled through this broken system without actually receiving any care. I had an MRI in October 2019 after experiencing severe neurological symptoms which resulted in temporary paralysis in the spring of that year which brought me to the ER. It took almost a year for me to see someone to get the results. The doctor in neurology was completely dismissive! He told me that he saw something on my scan but didn’t think it was that big of a deal and never explained to me what he saw. When I demanded a follow up for this, he said he would refer me to “neuro psychology” for the follow up and that never happened in spite of my multiple attempts to follow up. In spite of jumping through all the hoops needed for the “Truman Discount” I was billed for the imaging and before I could even address it with someone, it went to collections. After all of my attempts to see someone and every bit of patience I can draw from, in an attempt to address my health needs going back to the spring of 2019, it is now the summer of 2021 and I have STILL NOT SEEN A DOCTOR who can address my health concerns! I’ve had to visit the ER twice in this time because related symptoms were too severe to ignore. Today, after waiting MONTHS for my appointment, a doctor walked in and explained to me that this appointment was only to attempt to “establish care” once again and we would not be addressing any specific medical concerns ONCE AGAIN! They would be rescheduling me for a “follow up appointment” for 6 months from now AGAIN! I’m done. I will not be returning as it is clear they are unable to provide even the basics of care. Not only would I NOT recommend this medical group to anyone needing care, but I feel the system at Truman is flawed to the point of fraudulence. This is truly the absolute worst system I have ever seen.

The Drs are excellent, however, everyone asks, "Are you working?" Inappropriate and you should know better. There appears to be some gossip going on. Unprofessional The rooms are filthy and the floors are sticky. Some of the nurses are extraordinary, but some complain openly about patients in front of them.

Only 2 stars because 1 would not seem genuine and well thought out. Long story short: 1.) Their billing takes forever. 2.) Fees are not transparent. 3.) Service (docs and admins) was unpleasant. Details: I walked myself into ER one day in early March. They checked vitals and sat me in room for 2 hrs before first doctor came in. He gave me IV and a pill and said we should do some scans to be safe. I waited another 2 hrs for them to do scans. Scans done they parked me back in room for 2 more hrs before telling me results. Everything fine... phew. After this episode they offered to set me up with doctor in hospital. Hours were not flexible so I take some time off work only to wait for an hour in room until doctor comes in. In general, she was a nice person but was not a good listener. Just kept telling me her possible theory’s about my overall wellness while I was attempting to tell her my history and lifestyle. She says I should take ALL labs to be sure. Admin left me message to discuss results from labs. I call back to get them via phone but they tell me it’s NOT emergency but I still have to schedule appt and take time off work... again. I come back and she tells me a marker is off but not really concerning. She just wants to tell me to schedule another followup in few months to check again. I ask why this conversation could not have been done over the phone. She did not enjoy the feedback. Finally, bills begin to roll in. Actually, a total of 7 different bills for these events over 5 months trickled in. Remember that one I said could be done over the phone that I took off work? $167. Let me break this down: ER Visit: 3 different bills for 3 different doctors. 1 gigantic bill for the hospitals cut (easiest $5k they made that day) Followup Doctor: 1 big one for all the new labs 2 for office visits I’d contemplate dying next time before going back.

My father has been in Truman for almost 4 weeks and he has received excellent care. He has been in a regular room and in two different ICU units and all of the nurses have been helpful and attentive, the social workers were also very helpful, the doctors are knowledgeable. This hospital definitely gets a bad reputation because of the emergency room but our experience has been nothing but positive. I’m beyond pleased with his care.
