This hospital ER is operating at an unacceptable and unsafe level. The wait times are extreme—patients are left sitting for hours with no updates, no check-ins, and no reassurance that their care is being managed. At no point was I checked on or reassessed, despite being in the ER for hours with my test results already posted in MyChart long before anyone bothered to enter the room. The lack of staff is impossible to ignore. The ER is clearly operating with dangerously low staffing ratios, and the few staff members present were visibly overwhelmed and stretched far beyond what is safe. This directly affects patient care—people are left unattended, needs go ignored, and serious conditions risk being missed completely. It is not just poor service; it is a patient safety issue. On top of this, the ER is placing patients in makeshift “rooms” in the hallways. These setups offer zero privacy, and it should absolutely be considered a HIPAA violation. Anyone walking by can overhear private medical information or see patients in vulnerable situations. It is unethical, unsafe, and unacceptable. The bathrooms were filthy, the patient rooms were dirty, and the entire ER felt neglected and poorly managed. My own care was minimal at best, with no communication, no monitoring, and no urgency from the staff—because they simply do not have enough people to handle the volume. Specifically, Maggie Johnson, CNP, displayed zero compassion, was short, rude, and dismissive, making an already stressful experience far worse. The fact that this is the ER our community has to rely on is alarming. No patient should be forced to endure these conditions, this level of neglect, or this type of treatment.

My mom was in the hospital from November 1st thru the 4th...the nurses are rated number 1 for sure...they took great care of my mom...Cassy and Courtney were over the top kind and courteous and very efficient at their jobs. So this review has nothing to do with any nurse that took great care of her. She realized today that she had 400 dollars missing from her billfold. She's 77 soon to be 78...she has stashed money for years as an emergency fund just in case. I'm so heartbroken to think anyone would do that to an elderly patient. Or anyone for that matter. She did as they advised in security and filed a police report....I'm sure she will never get her money back...but she really wanted u to know u have an unhonest person there. Thanks for your time Michela

Worst hospital there is. Every person there wears a full bottle of perfume. Why? Is it club night? You're dealing with very sick people, what's wrong with you? And during my four days there six different people called me honey or hun or babe. I'm a 69 year od man, how about some respect? They don't listen at all. Tell them someting that's bothering you, they don't listen. Several times while a nurse was in my room a spasm struck me and while I was writhing in agony not once did someone say, what's wrong? I wear a large overnight ostomy bag that collects urine. In the mornings they would disconnect it, pour it in the toilet and flush. One morning I did not hear a flush. The nurse poured a full bag of urine teeming with a UTI in it directly into the the bathroom sink where people brush their teeth and wash their hands. Never go here. I could add much, much more but it turns my stomach enough just to recall these few things.

If you think something is wrong with you and the doctor isn’t listening, go somewhere else!! In my opinion, OSF killed my mom! She had complained for 2 years about her stomach and side hurting. Finally someone listened to her and did some tests to see what it could be & found she had cancer in her abdomen. 11 weeks later she died from the cancer. If they had done the testing at the start (2 years earlier), she may have gone thru chemo & been with us today!

This morning, around 11 a.m., I went to OSF On-Call to get checked due to breathing issues. Spoke with very friendly staff and was told I would receive a nebulizer and instructed to pick it up at OSF Home Health after my visit. Upon arrival at OSF Home Health, the staff claimed they had no idea what I meant and told me to go to the OSF clinic. At the OSF Clinic, the whole lower level was empty at 11:45am. We went to speak to staff on the upper floor (Renee who was fairly friendly) stated the person who may have been able to assist was on a lunch break(12pm to 1pm), which had not yet started, making them unavailable but the lady said she would leave Brenda, which is the nurse Brenda that works in the bottom floor of the clinic, a message so that once she came back from her lunch break she would be prepared to take charge of us. After waiting a couple of hours, I returned to speak with Brenda. I was told that they would not help because they don't give out "walk-in nebulizers" even though OSF hospital was given the word to give us this nebulizer by over 5 members of staff THREE TIMES, and we were only given a phone number to ask questions, and treated dismissively, as if my concerns were unimportant. After calling the number, I was told that the nebulizer would be ordered to my local pharmacy and they would let us know when to pick it up, but then called back later stating they would deliver the nebulizer directly to my house the next day before noon, with a one hour prior notice, which I honestly thought was nice and thought this would maybe redeem themselves slightly. NOW, I am sitting here the next day at 1pm, one hour after the latest time the nebulizer was supposed to be delivered (12pm), with NO call or any type of communication with me letting me know about the situation or any reach out of help. I have now given up and will not care to try and push for it anymore. This back and forth and back and forth and back and forth AND back and forth experience was extremely frustrating, and INCREDIBLY annoying and disrespectful to your patient. I genuinely had to recollect my thoughts and wonder that maybe I just didn't get it and understand these doctors because of how ridiculous this situation was, The lack of communication, organization, willingness to assist patients in need, as well as the SEVERE unprofessionalism by many of the staff left me feeling very neglected and unsupported in seeking essential medical care. Based on my experience, and after reading COUNTLESS similar reviews from other patients, I would not be surprised if this hospital eventually faces serious consequences, whether through loss of funding or potential legal action from state or federal regulators. I also do not need a pathetic "copy-and-pasted" apology like you do to every other review, the only thing you can do is change how your staff is trained and how the system of your hospital works. Be more professional and do better for your patients that really need help rather than disregarding them. Thank you for your time.
