If I could do no stars I would. The ER department is an absolute joke. Wife went there having really high blood pressure last checking shouldn’t be in the 140s with O2 dropping to 74. All they could say was she’s too young to be having these problems and sent her home. Tried them again when can see clear signs of swelling, bruising, and that something isn’t right with a shoulder. Couldn’t lift it couldn’t turn her neck without major pain that is already there and all they can do is give an ice pack and Tylenol. Really if she needed that I could have done that at home and saved us from wasting time. Try going somewhere else if could place is a joke , waste of time, and very much a band-aid hospital. Never want to listen to what have to say or take any consideration.

Review of Wright Memorial Hospital Emergency Room Based on my recent experience, I cannot recommend the Wright Memorial Hospital (WMH) Emergency Department. After my spouse underwent neck surgery at Saint Luke’s North Hospital in Kansas City, we returned home only to discover rapidly worsening swelling in his neck—a clear sign of a potentially serious post-surgical complication. We immediately drove to WMH’s ER, arriving with visible signs of distress: head bandages still on and the side of his neck swollen to the size of a baseball. Upon arrival, we explained the urgency of the situation to the admitting staff. Despite our clear communication and the obvious severity of my spouse’s condition, we were told to wait in the lobby until someone was available. After a 28-minute wait—during which the swelling increased to the size of a softball—we approached the staff again. Their response was unchanged: we would be seen when possible, and they could not advise whether we should seek care elsewhere. At this point, concerned for my spouse’s rapidly deteriorating condition, we chose to leave and drove to Hedrick Medical Center, another Saint Luke’s facility. The contrast was immediate and striking. At Hedrick, we were met with professionalism, empathy, and prompt action. Within minutes, a doctor was triaging my spouse, recognized the severity of the situation, and coordinated with the original surgeon for an urgent transfer. It was determined that my spouse was experiencing internal bleeding and required emergency intervention—a potentially life-saving response. Comparison to Other Facilities While WMH promotes its 24-hour emergency department and board-certified physicians, my experience did not reflect the responsiveness or urgency expected in a critical situation. Patient experience ratings for WMH are only slightly above the national average, and reviews are mixed, with some positive but limited feedback. In contrast, Hedrick Medical Center has received a five-star rating from CMS, placing it among the top hospitals in Missouri for patient experience, safety, and timely care. Final Thoughts In emergency medicine, timely assessment and intervention are critical, especially for post-surgical complications. My experience at WMH ER did not meet this standard, and I am grateful we sought care elsewhere. I hope WMH will review its triage and patient communication procedures to ensure others do not face similar risks. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Wright Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Department for urgent or life-threatening situations.

I cannot recommend this health care facility, which is unfortunate. For further context, this is around their policies on how they do not support workplace/employer paperwork if you have a disability and require workplace accommodations and the major poor experience I had with one of their internal medicine doctors. According to their Director of Physician Services, Medical Director, and Regional Risk Manager, "paperwork is something that our providers shouldn't be managing, and ultimately, it is at the discretion of the provider as to what paperwork they will fill out for patients". I recently moved from another state to this area so I needed a new primary physician unfortunately (my previous primary was amazing!). I met with one of the internal medicine doctors and had a couple of appointments with her. During my initial visit with her I informed her that she would be a part of my larger care Team (she had all of my medical records, including all of the records from my Mayo doctors as well as my psychiatrist). Several weeks later, after a couple of stays at Mayo, I followed back up with her and made an assumption that she was able to read up on my severe disability case, including my recent stays at Mayo. I did not get the impression that she had read up on my severe disability case but just rolled with it because our relationship was new. Shortly after, my employer required some paperwork to be filled out by my primary physician related to my workplace accommodations and so I had a nice little package of information, along with the forms, all put together and sent over to her (I tried to make it as easy as possible for her). Her response to me is when I knew she was in over her head. She stated that she disagreed with my accommodations of working remotely vs in an office and advised that I seek out another provider. I was totally taken aback and stated that to her and that maybe there was some confusion. I heard nothing back from her.....still to this day. No asking for clarification or wanting to meet with me to discuss, nothing, just her message. I was so confused by all of this that I submitted a complaint and asked for clarification, thus the language I included previously. At the same time, I had to get the forms filled out so I reached out to my Mayo primary physician and he filled them out with no problem, 100% supporting my accommodation (as did my psychiatrist). The internal medicine doctor was clearly not capable of handling my severe disability case and she obviously could not be professional about things either. I did appreciate the efforts from the St Luke Director of Physician Services, Medical Director, and Regional Risk Manager, even though I felt it was pretty much swept under the rug. Regardless, I would encourage anyone with disabilities who requires employer documentation to be filled out by a primary physician, to look elsewhere since their policy is really not a true policy but rather a gray area that allows for the narrative to be controlled by them.

Nice and New for small or long visits. There a Dr. Bowe that ahead of her time. They will help you. And it's not a band-aid hospital. They took care of me several times. ER new and clean.
