I was seen this morning by Dr. Donnawell for my aggressive GI symptoms. I felt heard and well cared for by her and the nurses on that shift. They helped me feel better and on the road to recovery! and made sure I was fully okay before leaving. My hospital room was very clean and had so much space. All the equipment, computers, the hospital room and lobby, the bathroom, everything just felt clean here. I appreciate the care, and I feel back to myself!
I have never been treated so horrible by medical staff as I was the past two different times I have been here. I went to the ER two different times within two days. I've had severe head pain on going off and on for five days now. Last night, I came in for a suspected seizure. I was trying to explain my symptoms fully, but was not fully coherent compared to how I am normally. The doctor kept gaslighting me, and told me you can only have seizures if you're unconscious, which is absolutely incorrect. There are many types of seizures. My blood pressure was way lower and got higher once than my normal, and I felt dizzy along with severe head pain. This doctor also was implying I was lying, and was flat out arguing with me. I have been writing a symptom and vitals log since this has been happening, and have had ongoing health issues building up before this for over a year. This doctor also lied or put misinformation about questions he asked, and statements I made as well on his medical report. He also continuously cut me off when I tried to explain everything. I ended up breaking down crying from both my head pain, and how utterly disrespected I felt. He did do some labs, and that all came back normal, but the symptoms ended up returning right back again hours later, the same excruciating pain. The nurses were a lot better than he was, but were kind of quiet and emotionless, and acted bothered as well. I refuse to ever see Dr. Liston again. If you can help it, avoid him as well. Now, the visit with Dr. Case two days ago was great compared to this. It was definitely not the best care I have received here, but it's tolerable. I went in from my clinic with suspected meningitis. She did do a lot of lab work, which I appreciate. It all came back normal, which is fantastic. I did decline one of the tests she wanted to do, mainly because after my labs came back normal, I felt like I wasn't being taken seriously, and fear of a complication happening. The nurses at this time were fantastic. I just wish I was taken more seriously, and offered more alternatives to see what was happening. Neither one of them offered any alternative testing to try to figure out what was wrong. I just felt like I was inconveniencing them. My symptoms last night caused me to temporarily go blind in my left eye and deaf in my left ear, along with other neurological issues and cardiovascular symptoms, but nothing is being looked into for that, and I was never given the chance to explain that. I will probably never return to this hospital again unless I absolutely HAVE to. I would not be missing multiple days of work that I love doing, or spending thousands without insurance just to be told everything is fine when it's clearly not.
Will never be going to this hospital again! Took my husband there this morning as he was having signs/symptoms of a heart attack. They got him in and did some tests, didn’t even talk to us about the results. Came in after 4 hours and said “There’s nothing wrong with you, you can go home.” Even though my husband’s blood pressure was high as well as his pulse. They sat there and even said he could go back to work tomorrow as he was leaning over in the bed in excruciating pain (he is one of those whose pain tolerance is so high that if he is willing to go to the hospital you know something is wrong). I tried politely asking if they could extend his note for work to where he could have a couple of days of rest and the doctor cut me off and said “No, I’m writing his note to say he can go back to work tomorrow”. Even though I was trying to explain to her that with his job since he works with animals that if he gets this chest pain and stuff again and passes out like he almost did today that it could be a life or death situation and she continued to cut me off and say he was fine. We went to Neosho Regional Medical Center for a second opinion and found out that my husband actually had a severe infection in the lining of his lung that was causing his pec muscle to become so inflamed that it was compressing on his heart and they said that if the infection would’ve gotten worse he could’ve been in a terrible situation and told him to rest for the remainder of the week cause any strenuous activity can make him worse! Allen County Regional Hospital is an absolute joke with their patient care and have terrible bedside manner. Dr. Jennifer Case was absolutely the most rude doctor I have ever encountered, she didn’t let us fully explain why we were there, wouldn’t let us finish talking and continually cut us off and wouldn’t even listen to our concerns about my husband returning to work tomorrow as he was sitting in the bed hobbled over in pain, he couldn’t even walk 3 feet without being in excruciating pain and all she kept saying was “He’s fine, he can go home.” This hospital is a joke
I have found ACCH top-notch in all regards. Clean, temperature controls on the mark and the staff professional and housekeeping are to be commended, they all are responsive, patient and cheerful.
Nurses put a catheter to start an iv but a syringe to draw blood, which was super messy and made my husband pass out. He has never passed out before at the sight of blood, and he's seen horrible accidents since he normally works by highways. They laughed and said he was the second one to pass out. I don't know if that's their goal or some game, but they were just like, "Yeah. Sure ok. " They never really showed that they cared at all. Would never come here again. I would rather we drive a whole hour and a half to the city. The only good thing was the receptionist. Lovely lady. Other than that, I rather risk dying
