Letter of Appreciation for Dr. Grant Nelson M.D. -UH Samaritan Medical Center Dear Dr. Nelson,

I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional care you provided during my tricep repair surgery. From the beginning, you were courteous, professional, and incredibly thorough. You took the time to explain everything in tremendous detail, which gave me great confidence and peace of mind.

Your follow-up and genuine concern for my recovery meant a lot to me. You reached out personally to make sure I was doing well after the surgery — something that truly shows the kind of doctor you are. Your kindness and dedication go far beyond what’s expected.

I have no doubt that you will continue to go a long way in your career. You’ve earned my respect and gratitude, and I would be proud to have you as a guest at my table one day to thank you personally for the excellent care you’ve given me. With gratitude, Eddie Noble

So we had to rush my son here the other night because he cut his finger really bad they got him back right away the firet 2 nurses were great with him and the one even went and found him chase bandaids for over the dressing the other nurse who did the stitches was also super great with him kept him laughing and was sympathetic on giving him the block to be able to give him his stitches, they explained how to wrap it at home and explained everything they were doing. He left still smiling and being his happy self.

Horrible experience. This place was an absolute nightmare with the most unprofessional staff imaginable. I called 911 and the squad took me there late on a Thursday night. I went there with a detached retina but no one seemed to know what that was. Fluid was filling my eye and I was losing sight. I waited for two hours and still hadn't seen a doctor. I asked to be transferred somewhere else and yelled "help". A guy came in my cubicle and told me to shut up. That they didn't appreciate me speaking to the staff that way. All i said was help me. A nurse came in and stuck two fingers in my face and told me to count them. Above the blood and fluid in my eye, I counted two. She said if I could see her two fingers, there was nothing wrong with my eye. The fluid and blood in my eye was rising and they told me the doctor wanted me to read an eye chart. I said I wouldn't be able to because I couldn't see out of my eye and if I could, I didn't have my contact in. My response angered them. At one point a police officer came in and said there wasn't anything they could do and I was being uncooperative. I said I just want to see a doctor or be transferred. I was told I would have to continue waiting for the doctor but he didn't treat eyes and wouldn't transfer me anywhere. I called and called and eventually reached a friend who came to get me. Samaritan said it was against medical advice that I leave even though they said if I ever saw a doctor, he could not treat eyes and he wouldn't transfer me to someplace that did. My friend drove me at 2:00 in the morning all the way to OSU emergency room in Columbus and I eventually got emergency surgery for a detached retina. Then Samaritan sent me a huge bill for their services and threatened to send it to collections.

If I could give UH Samaritan Medical Center he more than 5 stars, I would. The staff made a difficult time a little easier by their care and concern for the patient and family. Your staff are amazing; I don't recall a negative interaction with any staff member. Thank you.

The birthing unit at UH Samaritan is phenomenal. Every single nurse we encountered was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The birthing room is spacious and private. All nurses made sure that me, baby, and daddy had everything we would need. The nurses were also super helpful and kind when teaching a new mother like myself how to breastfeed. Every step of the way, I felt completely safe. Dr. Allman made sure that my labor went smoothly. His professionalism and care was so reassuring. I could not recommend UH Samaritan Birthing Unit more to expectant mothers. I cannot praise the birthing unit nurses enough. They are truly angels on earth. Additionally, the housekeeping staff were fantastic and so friendly. The meals were delicious and the staff in the kitchen and delivering were so great. If you are looking for a place to deliver, I highly encourage you to check out UH Samaritan’s Birthing Unit. You can always schedule a tour or even take their birthing class series which includes a virtual tour. Overall, the staff at UH made our experience a lovely experience. We are thankful for all their assistance and knowledge.
