Terrible experience. I went to the OSF walk-in clinic for UTI symptoms and was seen by Caitlin J. Engels Arteaga, PA. She ordered a urine test and said the results came back normal. She then recommended an X-ray and said she would send a urine culture as well. The next day i was in even more in pain, so I contacted my primary care physician (from another hospital) for help. When my doctor called Caitlin, she confirmed it was a UTI. After two days of unnecessary suffering, I finally received her prescription, but only after my primary doctor intervened. I’ve since spoken with someone who had a very similar experience with Caitlin. Poor communication, lack of urgency, and terrible bedside manner. Avoid if possible.

My adult daughter has a medical condition that causes her extreme lightheadedness. Unfortunately, she was lightheaded and sat her head on the kitchen counter, and when she lifted her head, she hit it on the corner of the upper cabinet. She hit her temple and it sent her into a seizure. She's NEVER had seizures before. Upon arriving at the emergency room, where you could visibly tell that something was wrong, the nurses were great. Except not giving her the call light and lying in her chart that she was given the call light. I have pictures and evidence of everything. Upon reading more of the clinical notes on MyChart, we also discovered that the nurses didn't listen at all when I explained what happened. We were in the ER for 4 hours, not seeing the doctor until 15 minutes prior to discharge. The doctor was dismissive, argumentative, and kept saying she "fainted". A person does not convulse for 60-70 seconds if they faint. I've seen enough seizures to know what one is like. She has no recollection of anything happening after setting her head down on the counter to let the lightheadedness pass. The doctor also tried to blame her "fainting" (seizure!) on her smoking pot 4-5 days PRIOR. Everything about that doctor was condescending, ignorant, and unprofessional.

Terrible experience with care, missed an issue with my husbands back. Also, terrible with billing. They are currently committing insurance fraud, as they were to not turn the bill into insurnace, and they did and have now taken a full payment from us, as well as a payment through insurance. So they are getting double paid. Also, tried to tell me I have another bill to pay amd asked if I wanted to pay it over the phone, and have never once sent me a copy of the bill. Terrible experience and will make sure if there is an emergency we will not end up at OSF.

The best ER experience I’ve ever had. I have to say ER Nurse Denise has been the sweetest, compassionate and most caring nurse I have ever been around. I come from a family of nurses and emergency room doctors at some of the biggest hospitals in Illinois and she is top notch. She has been such a joy and bright light when my son was treated at St Paul ER in Mendota. I also have to say Dr Dan was great too and very compassionate and kind. Both went way above and beyond and I’ve never had a better ER experience in my life. My son was in agonizing pain with appendicitis and was seen within 2 minutes of walking in the front door. Nothing but positive things.
