I was seen in this ER last week for an allergic reaction to a steroid injection and was treated by Gabriela Szatko, MD. Her bedside manner was extremely poor. Throughout the visit, she repeatedly questioned whether I had taken too many medications and strongly implied that I was experiencing a drug overdose, which was not the case. She did not come in to explain my bloodwork, and when she briefly addressed it, she told me everything was “normal.” However, when I reviewed my results later in the patient portal, multiple values were clearly marked abnormal. Despite presenting with an allergic reaction to steroids, I was then given more steroids to “calm things down.” My blood pressure immediately spiked again, and I was discharged anyway — with a prescription for additional steroids. I followed up with my primary care physician, who was very upset by the care I received. He explained that the specific labs ordered made it appear as though I were a long-term drug user, which was inappropriate and misleading. He also stated that had I taken the prescribed steroids, I likely would have ended up back in the ER. The only positive part of this visit was my ER nurse, who was compassionate, professional, and took the time to explain what was happening. This experience left me feeling dismissed, mischaracterized, and put at further medical risk. I would not recommend this ER based on my experience.

This is the absolute worst hospital that I have ever been too! Despite them giving me a chest x-ray they missed something very significant that was caught days later at Northwestern ER Department. And the very concerning thing that they missed isn't something that could have just appeared. Additionally, my OSF mychart stated that my POC URINE PREGNANCY was negative. This result was very shocking because I NEVER gave them any urine! So where did the urine come from or better yet why did they lie on test results? There is so many more terrible things that I can say. However, to protect my health privacy I won't say any more in a Google review. Update: I completed the survey and would like to be contacted. In addition, I am making a formal complaint.

I’m really don’t know how to rate the hospital. I’m so disappointed at the staff and Er charge nurse. My dad was rushed to Er due to a massive stroke and brain bleed he was there for 3 hours and no one ever contacted me his documented medical power of attorney . The charge nurse said that’s it’s not protocol that a family is contracted in and sos situation. The major positive thing that OFS did was transfer him to Uic which has been an awesome communicator and caregiver in his care process. In those 3 hours what if he had slipped away and the and the hospital never thought it was important enough to call me .

I have been a patient of Little Company of Mary for over 10 years after my obgyn transitioned to this hospital from another hospital. Overall the staff are kind and professional and I’ve never had a bad experience until recently when my obgyn retired and the hospital was transitioned to OSF. I received a $500 bill for removal of my IUD and was informed due to the hospital’s religious exemption that they do not bill insurance for these services. My new obgyn did not inform me of this before the fact otherwise I would have been able to make an informed decision. Also since my prior obgyn placed the IUD 5 years prior I wasn’t expecting any issues. A year later my husband and I struggled to conceive and we were informed because of the religious exemption they cannot assist with family planning which led us having to get a global referral to see another doctor in network. It was very discouraging and tedious to mange the insurance, contacting new doctors and added to an already stressful experience. I did not feel like I had much support from my obgyn and having to see someone outside of the hospital was very difficult. The final straw was when I was informed that because of the religious exemption that if I were to give birth at the hospital certain life saving measures could not be taken for me and baby. I’m grateful that my insurance and well as other representatives informed me of this and therefore we decided to change to another hospital without a religious exemption that is able to provide comprehensive care. I now have the support of my obgyn and I am able to receive the family planning support we need. I understand this is a religion- affiliated establishment and I am religious myself however I did not fully understand how the exemption would limit my care until now. Knowing how it will impact my care led us to making a better decision for us and our needs. I’m sharing this for anyone who may not be aware of how the exemption may impact their care so they can have the information to make an informed decision. The hospital has every right to operate in alignment with their beliefs. However ask questions and get the information you need. I’m sure I don’t have everything right about the limitations, this was just my experience. Thank you Little Company of Mary for the care for all the care that you did provide in the past, so sad to see this chapter end.

I Just left Little Company of Mary. My husband and I arrived about 3:45 am , first the mist part it was empty. The nurses really got him setup & I thank you all for your service. The doctor comes in after reviewing his X-rays, explains to him what he needs to do. My husband asked can he left, he states in a few minutes. The doctor never told any of the nurses what was going on, just left . I called first the nurse didn’t know the doctor had come into the room. Communication is very important doctors… please write on the big empty board that he was seen and the time, then share it with the nurses what took place please .
