This is strictly for the ER. My primary Dr, the lab, my gynecologist, all are absolutely wonderful, and I refuse to see anyone else. After reading some of the comments I thought, Holy crap. Im not alone. In May I had some type of crazy "flare up" as I later learned by the way. Every joint in my body was stiff, I couldn't move without severe pain, like nothing ive ever experienced. I finally couldn't take it anymore and headed in. Check in was pretty quick, went thru triage, etc. Got to the room and dr came in pretty quick, explained everything to him again, response "mm hmm", "mm hmm" "do you do any drugs?" Kinda shocked I looked at him and said well no? "Are you sure" Yes. Asked a few more questions about when the stiffness and aches started, along with swelling, and then asks "and you dont do meth" No. Like what? In my head I thought Clearly you can see im beyond overweight. (It did hit me later on, that I was going thru dental work in the middle of this, so I assume it was bc of my teeth) Anyway. I started crying bc I was in so much pain, not understanding why this was happening, and was treated like i was there for drugs. If he would have even offered, he would learn that the most i can tolerate is an ibuprofen 800. I dont do pain pills, my body literally won't have it, i just get sick. In all he looked at me and said he wasn't sure what was going on. Tests were negative, get in touch with my primary care dr the following day. And sent me home with a prescription for a fluid pill. I cried the whole night knowing my Dr was on leave, but I was going to get thru to someone! My husband was enraged. Thank God for Dr Sweeten!! He ordered the actual tests for my symptoms, talked to me on the phone, and apologized over and over for how I was treated. I literally had relief by the end of the next day! Just FYI. My inflammation markers were more than tripled, as well as esr and westergren. My Drs couldn't believe how in bad of a shape I was...for a fluid pill. For all your emergency needs. Do. Not. Go. Here. Everything else, 100% . Fun fact: when I got home and got my test results from that night, I had a basic panel done, and a full on drug test. Which were all negative.

Patient Advocacy Failed to Correct MRI Order — Resulting in Delayed Care I want to begin by saying my primary care doctor, Dr. Sweedan, has been excellent: thorough, communicative, and genuinely invested in helping me after years of unclear symptoms. This review is not about him or his care. Dr. Sweedan is the only doctor I’ve had in five years that has advocated for my health. He is not just a good doctor but a good person. This was a failure of the system to support not just me as his patient, but him as a doctor. The issue is with the Patient Advocacy process at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital. Before my scheduled brain MRI, I contacted Patient Advocacy because the order was written without contrast only, even though standard pituitary imaging requires with and without contrast. My doctor had sound reasoning, primary care physicians are often denied contrast MRIs by insurance, which is why I reached out to Advocacy to help coordinate the correction through Radiology, who could have adjusted the orders because protocol requires it. Instead, the advocate simply forwarded my request back to the same doctor who had already explained why he could not revise it. It would appear that no one contacted Radiology, and no real attempt was made to intervene before the MRI was performed. As a result, the MRI was done incorrectly for pituitary evaluation. The technologist recognized this immediately and told me the radiologist will likely need to order a second MRI with contrast, something that could have been avoided entirely if Advocacy had assisted as requested. This caused an avoidable delay in diagnosing a potentially serious medical condition. The radiology staff and technologist were excellent; my concern is solely with the breakdown in Advocacy, which did not function as a supportive patient resource. I’ve submitted a formal grievance to corporate Patient Experience and Compliance because this failure directly impacts timely medical care.

I have been hesitant to write a review because of a past experience with my husband being admitted and treated horribly. The nurses and doctor were judgemental and dismissive. HOWEVER I would like to note that I was just recently admitted here myself and was taken care of very promptly. Front desk and intake nurse were very kind and listened like they really cared. I was taken care of by Jess and Clarissa and they were excellent. They were sweet and very attentive. I was nervous to go in due to past experiences but Jess and Clarissa have completely redeemed this experience for me. Thanks to these ladies I felt comfortable and taken care of. I appreciate you're hard work ladies.

Twice this hospital saved my mother's life in a serious emergency: In ER they show professionalism and didn't miss a beat swinging into action. I also appreciate their communication skills in explaining the situation in both ER and the hospital care received. They are impressive indeed. So glad this valley has such a competent place, they can trust.

I can’t say enough good things about Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Woodstock. From the moment I walked in, the front desk was welcoming, the nurses were attentive and kind, and every provider took time to explain what was happening in plain language. The facility is spotless, the wait times were reasonable, and I never felt rushed. What stood out most was the teamwork: lab, imaging, and nursing all coordinated seamlessly, and follow-up instructions were clear and easy to understand. It’s reassuring to have a hospital in our community that truly values each patient and makes sure you’re not a number. Five stars all the way!
