I saw Dr. Hurtuk for ongoing left ear pain. She did a camera/scope in my nostrils and saw some post nasal drip then did a hearing test and a pressure test (which both came back fine.) At first, I actually felt very heard and hopeful leaving that day - she said it was likely allergies and post-nasal drip causing my ear pain and prescribed antibiotics and allergy medication. I followed all her instructions will every medication, but my ear pain never improved. In fact, while still taking the meds, the pain got so bad I couldn’t even rest my head on a pillow. I messaged the office for help, and they called back to tell me they didn’t know what else to say - that I should just take ibuprofen for the pain. That was it. This medical system feels like a joke. on top of that I’m on the hook for $755 for a visit that did nothing to address the actual problem.
Immediate care - Horrible service! We was waiting 2 hours to get sean by the doctor the ither day when my son was with fever and coughing… nothing they gave us- 1 day later he was worse, his primary doctor diagnosed him with pneumonia. Now tonight the doctor send us to x-ray at 7:46pm, they said sorry we turned the computer off the last patient was at 7:45pm… seriously??!!! I was so annoyed for 1 min … they didn’t accept us, si now i need another day off because someone turn his computer off …
Be aware as my insurance company explained Loyola healthcare is one of the very few locations in Illinois that charges a “facility fee” when you walk in the door. For one office visit to new to me orthopedic surgeon, along with his doctor fees I was charged $300 facilities fee when I saw him for 20 minutes and he gave me a cortisone shot. Very good doctor but I will never go to a Loyola facility again. My insurance - one of the best ones and a PPO - does cover this fee but there is a $300 copay. Going back to my usual Endeavor health system that has never charged that.
I would not recommend Loyola Orthopedics to anyone. The overall lack of professionalism is disappointing, especially from those in leadership positions. Communication was poorly handled, and the follow-up showed a clear lack of care or attention to detail. I’ve since switched providers entirely based on this experience.
We live in Arlington Heights but always make arrangements for test and procedures at Burr Ridge even though it is further away. We do so because of the excellent care and treatment we receive from Pam and Lisa. They make everything run smoothly and efficiently with excellent bedside manners. The best!
