I was kinda skeptical about what I was walking into honestly felt like a hotel when I saw the room I had Patrica she was amazing with answering any questions and made the process very smooth I'd recommend this location very glad I finally got it done
The one and only good thing to say about Ascension Alexian Brothers - Sleep Care facility is the young woman who was assigned to me. Sleep studies require a patient to be subjected to uncomfortable sensors and electrodes and there is nothing in the bedrooms that provide the least bit of comfort let alone a relaxed sleeping environment. The bedrooms in the Ascension Alexian Brothers - Sleep Care facility could easily be used as locations for a horror film. The place is grim and old and is reminiscent of a monastery furnished with handed-down or discarded beds and furniture. Certainly, Ascension's vast profit margins are more than sufficient to enable an upgrade to at least the bedrooms at this facility.
Admittedly I am not sure anyone finds a sleep study 'fun' but the staff I had throughout the night (specifically Kyle) were phenomenal and definitely did their best to make this frankly uncomfortable observation, a lot more comfortable than it could have been. Kind, informative, and very reassuring staff, if I have to do a sleep study again (and, again, I hope I don't!) this location is where I hope I'm sent! For any other customers curious about the experience, it has a feel similar to a hospital room mixed with a hotel room, the staff was kind enough to point out that there is a TV if I was interested, and the bed/temperature/blankets and pillow can all be adjusted to my needs. A little spooky knowing there's a camera and intercom always watching, and you do get suited up with ~30 wires to start the evening as well. I was permitted to use my phone until I fell asleep, and I ended up 'checking out' around 6 in the morning. Definitely recommend taking the subsequent day off work! But, again, all in all, awesome staff, still a medical procedure, but if it has to be done, this is a great place to get it done in my experience.
I was very lucky that Kyle took care of me last night. He explained every step of the sleep study easy to understand, did everything to make the night as pleasant as possible. 5 Stars plus for a great experience! Thank you Kyle Wolfgang
2nd sleep study. First one at this location. Horrible experience. Pillows are plastic. Bed was rock hard. I think they set you up for a bad study. After getting the electrodes attached to my head and body, I said to the woman that I would like to wash all the goop off of me in the AM. The woman said...you can go home and take a shower. After telling her I would not go out with gel stuff all over me, she conceded and said I would have get up 1/2 hr earlier, because it takes a long time for the water to get hot. The worst part is yet to come. After going to bed, I could not get comfortable. (Let me say that I spend about 30 days a year in hotels, and have NEVER in my life had a worse night's sleep.) Between the plastic pillow and the rock hard bed, I was tossing and turning. Finally, at 11:30, I told her that I couldn't sleep on such a hard bed, and with plastic pillows. She came into the room with a remote and told me it was a Sleep Number bed, and to adjust it. It was on 100 (concrete hard). At that point....my thoughts were, they must make a cut from all the sleep apnea positive tests. I didn't sleep at all that night. My first sleep study was done in Hoffman Estates, and it was a wonderful experience. Very relaxing. This one was the exact opposite. I didn't even follow up with the pulmonologist because I knew this was an inaccurate, bogus test.
