I had a very upsetting experience at the Cleveland Clinic Willoughby Hills Family Health Center. During multiple visits with Dr. Diane Young Brown, I felt dismissed, pressured, and spoken to in ways that were unprofessional and judgmental. At my most recent visit, I came in with irritation and itching after using new wipes. Instead of listening to my concerns about a possible yeast or bacterial infection, Dr. Young told me: “Looks like you caught herpes along the way.” This statement was devastating, shaming, and inappropriate. She only ordered a herpes swab (which later came back negative) and still prescribed herpes medication, saying: “For now, we will say you do not have herpes.” This was not my first concerning experience. At both my first and second visits, she repeatedly pushed birth control on me, even after I had already acknowledged and thanked her for the information. It felt forceful, like she wasn’t listening to me as a patient. What hurt the most was the lack of compassion. I was crying during my visit, yet no effort was made to call me directly when my results came back negative. Instead, her language made me feel as though she almost wanted me to have herpes. I have since filed a complaint with the Ohio Medical Board and contacted Cleveland Clinic leadership. I truly hope this facility takes steps to ensure patients are treated with professionalism, empathy, and thorough care in the future. UPDATE: Since writing my original review, I visited two different doctors for second opinions. Both stated that the original claim made by Dr.Young was exaggerated and inaccurate. Lab tests were performed, and I was prescribed medication to treat a yeast and bacterial infection. I was also advised not to use the hydrocortisone cream that had been previously prescribed, as it would have aggravated the area. After one week of proper treatment, my symptoms resolved completely. This situation could have been avoided with appropriate care and diagnosis from the beginning.
Pharmacy only review: Several times they did not have enough of a med to fill prescription (for myself & my sister in law); one scrip called for 14 day supply and they would only do 10; always long lines/long wait.
Called to schedule an appointment. After one was canceled on me with less than 2 hours notice. I was scheduled with a different doctor for 3 days in advance. Got a call the day before the appointment and was told the doctor’s practice has closed and I couldn’t even reschedule with another doctor which was not true. I just don’t understand why they would schedule it and then cancel for a reason that would very obviously prevent me from getting it scheduled in the first place. This has happened 4 times in 3 month's now and I still have not been able to see ANY doctor. This is like a Seinfeld episode except nobody is laughing.
I love the doctors and staff at this facility. It is definitely showing its age at this point, though. Drs Rex and Silko are very friendly and willing to discuss options those as with all sometimes you have to make them listen to you as they are force to move quickly by the clinic administration.
Dr. Raymond Rackley saw my sister today, and I highly recommend him as a urologist. He has very good Dr. to patient etiquette.
