Amanda hadn't prepared for me. I'm no longer a C-Pap patient but am trying to get tested for Alzheimer's and was hoping she could get me an earlier appointment for another Neuropsych test, which Dr. Hari Hall says should be taken a year after my January 2025 baseline. Ms. Webster kept saying she could do nothing about this, and suggested I try to enroll in a clinical trial at some other hospitals. Amanda seems to lack empathy. I don't like working with her.
I came in as a NP and as I approached the desk, I was told that I had to leave a cc on file and pay $150 admin fee for 2026. It still being 2025, I said that I'm a NP and hadn't even been seen yet to know if I'm coming back in 2026. I was seen by Dr. Yusuf and she seems to be great so far. I will say, I felt rushed. I'm not sure if that is how she herself likes to be booked or if that is more of an office complaint. As a new person to the office with MS, I expected more time. Speaking for myself and possibly everyone with Multiple Sclerosis, we get overwhelmed easily and rushing us at at the same time we are walking into a new Neurologist, not a great start. I scheduled my next appt at the front desk and was told I must sign the paperwork for the $150 fee for 2026 prior to scheduling. I asked what that fee entailed and was told it's for calling/faxing Rxs, if a handicap paper needed to be signed etc. She also said that it is an annual fee that needs to be paid every year, not just a one time fee. Knowing that this is a way to extract more money, because these are classic admin duties inclusive with having a front desk staff. She was lovely by the way. Nothing personal to her, just probably something the office manager needs to change. As a NP, between the rushed short appointment and this, I was put off. I will see Dr. Yusuf for my next appointment and give the office a fresh start. There are many Neurologists in this same building should I have this happen again. If reading this changes one thing for the next NP to walk in and make things better, or start an internal dialog for the betterment of patients and office than I'm happy. Brain, spinal cord injuries and neurological diseases are hard enough every single day.
December 2025: I had a very negative experience with the Neurology Center. They care more about profits than patients. I will never go back there again. My story starts with an appointment with Dr Pamela Howard. First it takes months to get an appointment to see her. I saw her in July. She recommended a home sleep study. It takes months to get an appointment for a home sleep study. When the date came (in December), I did my home sleep study and returned the equipment to the Neurology Center. I was told that the results will be posted on the patient portal about a week after the study. About 10 days after the study, I received a bill. But I did not see any report, nothing summarizing the result of the sleep study. I waited a few days, until 2 weeks after the study, and I still saw nothing on my patient portal. I called to inquire. This is when my negative experience started. I was told I need to see someone before they will release the results. NO one told me this before. And Dr Howard's first available appointment is in March. I said this is unacceptable. I refuse to pay the bill until I receive a report summarizing the results. Then I was reminded - when I arrived at the office, they required me to give a credit card they kept on file. So the Neurology Center will bill my credit card whether I liked it or not. I did not have the option of not paying. This made me quite angry. How can they bill me when I have not yet received the result of the study! The person I spoke with said there is a physician's assistant who has a spot tomorrow and I could speak with her via telehealth. I said fine. Next day morning, I looked at the email from the Neurology Center. There was a link to a website with paperwork I had to fill out before my telehealth session. There were maybe 10 screens of info to fill out. On the very LAST screen it said I had to be physically located in DC or Maryland in order to do telehealth with this person. No one warned me about this. I live in Virginia. The person who suggested the appointment should have warned me. She should have noticed that my address is in Virginia. I called to double check - is this information correct. Do I have to be in DC or Maryland? I was put on hold for 15 minutes. So I hung up and called again. And I was told, "Yes you have to be in DC or Maryland." Fortunately I live close enough to DC and I found this out early enough I could actually go into the office. But this only added to my negative patient experience. When I saw the physician's assistant, Annise Claude, she told me the result of my sleep study is, there is nothing bad enough to warrant a CPAP machine. Now why couldn't they tell me that via a simple email or report via the patient portal. I had to go into the office, spend 3 hours of my time to go there and come back, to hear the news they could not really find anything bad. And of course this gives the Neurology Center another chance to bill because this visit is not included in the fee for the home sleep study. In summary, I believe this office is more focused on profits than patients. This is not a good place for patients.
Dr. Hari-Hall and Amanda Webster, PA provide excellent service every time! They are thorough, direct, and actively listen to cover all my concerns. I feel like we work together to reach the right plan of action for my needs. I really appreciate that they see me as a whole person and address my questions with understanding and the intention to help, while stating clear expectations!
After doing a little research online, I was a little apprehensive about the medical procedure I was scheduled to have performed. The PA that performed the test was very professional and reassuring and I was comfortable during the procedure. I had no problems after the test and recovered quickly with no problems or issues. The parking is a little more of a challenge here than at the other location for my appointments but not a serious issue.
