Pennock has nearly killed my loved one. My loved one with a complex health and surgical history that should have been seen at a larger Hospital to begin with. Why his PAC sent him to Pennock is beyond me. He went in for an appendectomy. They knicked his bowel, filling him with poison, 3 surgeries later and an aero med ride to a REAL Hospital in Grand Rapids, and he's in critical but stable condition. A surgery to remove his appendix has now cost him that organ along with half of his bowel and colon. You should feel ashamed of yourselves. You caused a leak you couldn't find, said you repaired it and you didn't, and now he's fighting for his life. A few years back the same man had a gallbladder removed from Pennock and that took 2 hours longer than it should have. They should really re-evaluate the level of care they are able to offer and stop being so careless with patients and overly confident with their limited abilities at a small town hospital. Their surgeons obviously do not perform enough appendectomies to consider themselves skilled. UPDATE: A week and a half later and he is still in Butterworth ICU. I notice someone from Pennock always responds to these reviews, but for some reason it's taking a little longer for them to express their fake concerns on this experience. Perhaps because they know they messed up big time and it could very well cost you. Why should Medicare be responsible for the aftermath of what you caused? It will be interesting to see what comes of this. EDIT: He has still not been home since his appendectomy. Going on 3 months now. But your sincerest apologies huh? We have been very educated on how Hospitals and hack surgeons like the one you had work on him, can absolutely get away with this without paying a dime or suffering any type of recourse against your terrible Healthcare facility. I will shout to everyone that will hear me, to avoid your hospital. Any docs or surgeons that have seen him in recent months cannot belive the hack job Pennock performed. You want details? Research him yourself. You permanently screwed him up and he and Medicare get to cover ALL the costs from the pain and trauma Corwell Health and Pennock Hospital have caused.
I was born at this hospital, up until a few years ago they seemed great. Recently they apparently can't do a dang thing, its here's a referral to GR or Lansing for anything. Whatever happened to going to the hospital and if something needed done after going to your doctor's appointment going to another part of the building and getting situated. Nope, now all they do is "oh, we can't do that here. You're gonna have to go to so-and-so's" Just a bunch of BS.
My family has been going to this hospital for several years. We've only have received bad care a few times. Usually, they've been great but now, they dont seem to want to take care of my son who has post concussion syndrome. He does have a concussion specialist but 3 times now, some new symptom has happened to him and I've called the nurse. All three times the nurse said I need to call for an ambulance. When we got to the hospital, all three times, the docs didn't take it seriously, barely examed him, and said he is ok. 1 of the times was at a different hospital though. Twice was at pennock. I took him in (after a nurse told me to call an ambulance) because his legs and arms have been tingling for 12 hours. Walking increases the tingling and his balance was off. All she did was one small exam and then said she cant treat him. She didn't even tell me what could be causing this. She just sent him home. To me, 12 hours of tingling and balancing issues should be a concern. Maybe ER doctors dont know about post concussion syndrome. Something is causing the tingling and balance issues. Its getting very frustrating having the docs at this hospital seeming like they dont care and brush us off!
It is with heartfelt appreciation that I write this review. On August 5, 2025, I was directed to the ER at Pennock Hospital for cellulitis in my right arm. Even though the ER was very busy, the care received was excellent from a very professional, kind, and personable staff. Jackie, RN, was my primary care provider, she made an uncomfortable stay pleasant. Thank you very much. The next day I was admitted into the hospital. The excellent care continued for all team members including nurses, doctors, and hospital staff. I am so impressed the care the team provided, that one person cannot be singled out. Please thank all of them for doing a thankless job that many people do not appreciate. Hospital administrators should be proud of their staff! Thank you! Regards, Mike Miller Freeport, MI
Went there for a hernia ans they just took ex rays of my ribs instead. Never looked ay the hernia or felt it and just diagnosed it as a deformity of the ribs when my ribs werent even the problem. A joke of a hospital. Every pregent women took there is sent somewhere else too. A money grab for health insurance forsure
