Detroit VA hospital is a fantastic facility with excellent service and support systems. My experience is that the Detroit VA has seen a marked increase in quality care and treatment. From front desk service to primary care providers, there is a concerted effort to provide the very best service possible. This was not always the case several years back. I consider myself very lucky to have access to sort of high end care. However, parking could be better.

I am beyond frustrated. I am a nurse trying to help my father navigate his veterans health care. And I am appalled how complicated it is to get to the appropriate person you need to get ahold of. I’ve been trying for over 2 weeks and I get redirected and a multiple different numbers of people who can help me and extensions. This is a shame! Veterans are in need and I his feels like they are redirecting you like toddlers or like smoke and mirrors operation. Every time I hear the message do you feel suicidal I start to wonder because it’s a depressing organization.

Hello, I was scheduled for surgery on August 20, 2025, and received information (instruction, and for my awareness) concerning my surgery. As promised I was contacted one business day before the procedure with the time to report. So the situation for me was heading in the right direction before the day of the surgery. When I arrived to John D. Dingell Medical Center, and made it to the area to begin the surgery process the medical staff were welcoming. They introduced themselves, and I began to feel as comfortable as I believe possible prior to a surgery. During the procedure Sameeh Kawar (M.D.), and his team was great. I appreciated the communication, and was at ease for the most part during the procedure. The surgery was a success. Thank you surgery team.

It had been over 50:years Since I had been to a VA facility. I had a bad experience at the time and said I would never return. I had read about the New VA Hospital in Detroit and I needed some Dental work so I decided to give it a try. It is a beautiful complex and extremely clean all of it not limited to certain areas, all of it. Was very impressed by the staff. Everyone that we came into contact with were helpful. They went out of their way to be answer questions and help with directions. The staff behind the counter in the Dental Section were very friendly and helpful. The Doctor and her assistant were friendly and knowledgeable and explained the procedure and process. The Dentist and his assistant explained what they were going to do and made me feel comfortable with their decision. We came into contact with numerous staff members throughout the day but the thing that impressed me the most was they all were helpful and friendly. They all appeared to enjoy their job and were glad to be there. Not something you see these days.

This was my first experience stepping into this beautiful hospital. My Primary care team is located at the Pontiac facility and sent me down today for x-rays..... wow. I've never had faster service in my life. Got to the hospital, was at the check in counter for radiology within 5 minutes, sat down after checking in and 3 minutes later I was called into the back. I was heading back to my car within 10 minutes. My wife was amazed
