Dr. Kandel and his staff are great. The one problem I have with this office is the fact that the front door is so difficult to enter with a wheelchair. If there was at least a door stop so that you could prop the door open and push the wheelchair through. The threshold also requires you to tilt the wheelchair up to push the chair forward. I am sure that all the wheelchair bound patients and their caregivers would very much appreciate it if UNC would give this facility some attention.
I left my last pulmonologist because the office had a habit of canceling appointments without notice. I'd heard good things about UNC Pulmonology in Kinston, so I transferred there. After waiting several months for my appointment, I found out when -I- called them myself to verify the appointment the day before that it had been canceled and moved to October. No notice. When I explained to the lady that I needed an active prescription so I could reorder my medical supplies and that having to wait until October put me in a hard spot, she just says, "I'm sorry, but it's October", and that they usually notify people. I'm incredibly disappointed after the good things I've heard about this place. Definitely not the best way to make a first impression.
This guy did zero to help with my sleep problem. I waited three months for the appointment, he just listened to what I said, then told me to come back in another two months! No treatments, no advice, nothing. You should genuinely want to help people with their sleep. This was a total waste of time
