The Nurses and staff on ICU and fifth floor are beyond phenomenal! I cannot say enough good about our experience with Children’s Hospital! We recently spent almost 5 weeks in the hospital with our six month Old, two of which were spent at children’s. We will never go to another hospital! My son was born with Microcephaly epilepsy and cerebral palsy. He caught a virus and has been struggling to get his seizures under control. We unfortunately found out he was having infantile spasms and ended up discharging on hospice. However, children’s will still be a huge part of his care! The nurses Really do care and they are so amazing with the children! Even my other kids when they came to visit. Dr. Parkhurst is his new neurologist and she specializes in epilepsy. She took the time out of her day to sit and talk with us almost daily. Even one time sitting in the room for almost an hour, just to answer our questions and took the time to make sure we felt OK.

The nurses and techs were AMAZING. Hands down. Educated. Patient. Kind. Just wonderful. This was a scary visit for my child and our family. They made me feel like we were not alone and even when I asked the same question multiple times, they answered with grace. I am thankful for the healthcare team who cared for my daughter during this time.

My son received excellent care and the drs. were very informative and didn't just rush in and out they took their time assessing my son. His nurse Bri deserves recognition also. She was very kind and listened to my concerns and explained thing in a very proper manner too. She also has great bedside manner. We had a amazing experience and will always know that he will be taken care of at Children's Nebraska.

Children’s Nebraska took such amazing care of my baby. The nurses and doctors were kind, gentle, and supportive throughout our stay. I am so grateful for their quick response and the way they treated my daughter like their own. Highly recommended.

If you love your child, go to any OTHER emergency department. I brought my child in for suspected torsion, she puked at the registration desk and was doubled over in pain the nurse looked at me like I had googled the word torsion and she just ate bad sushi. I asked if she could at least get something for nausea and pain she looked at me like I was a drug addict. Torsion is a time sensitive issue, we spent over an hour waiting to just be triaged. When I again said something asking to at least have her scanned until a doctor could actually see her she told me that's not how the work a doctor has to evaluate first. If you are going to put inexperienced nurses in triage to determine the severity of a pts concern a child is going to die. At least make sure they know what they are doing. Any experienced nurse could have used their own critical thinking to ask a doctor for zofran and toradol, they could also suggest having an ultrasound done while the patient is in the lobby so when a doctor is available the pt is calm, able to communicate, and possible diagnostic images could be available. A GOOD doctor would trust a GOOD nurse to make these calls. Instead you employ nurses who ask for a urine sample 5 hours after being in the ER. All smart ER nurses know that abdominal pain =urine sample. Needless to say my daughter was twisted like a pretzel and lost her organ. Had proper care been provided and actually listening to the pt and in this case mother, it could have been avoided. Shame on you Children's ED staff nurses for your lack of empathy and basic emergency medical knowledge.
