I had my knee surgery at this hospital. Dr. Sing who performed surgery and his staff were excellent. Nurse assistant Dayc (6th floor)was an amazing caregiver, extraordinary supportive. Very professional when she does something. She gave me a good impression about this great hospital, something to look back and appreciate. All other staff were good too. I have no bad experience with anyone.
Came today around 8:20 am , (day after thanksgiving) to my scheduled appointment 8:30am, it’s 10 am and I’m still here. Went to ask front desk for an ETA and they said the doctor comes at 9am, and still nobody has called me or say anything. Mind you they have the audacity to post , that they reserve the right to cancel your appointment if you show 30 min late. (What happens if they are the ones late?) I don’t come to this hospital at all, I avoid it at all cost, but for the type of procedure I needed SBH was the only one with availability.
My daughter was taken to this hospital from her University. She was treated horribly, no compassionate or competent care given at all. The staff assume every person of color comes in seeking drugs or a prescription for pain medication. I had to fly her home for adequate and proper care and assessment for an actual diagnosis. This hospital needs to learn cultural competence and compassionate care for everyone who enters their doors. Everyone deserves common decency to be treated like a human being until otherwise determined. The Healthcare system is literally a joke, they don't take themselves seriously and want their professions to be respected when they lack professionalism and seem irritated when patients come into the ER. If you have an option NEVER go here. If you have to go, good luck.
There were multiple situations that concern me today at St Barnabas hospital as a patient. Number one immediately when I entered the back to wait for a doctor and a nurse I was greeted with an overwhelming amount of patients to where I was unfortunate and a few others were unfortunate to get placed in a section with at least five other people waiting to be seen. That is not what affected my uncomfortable feelings what actually took me to a level of flabbergastedness was that while waiting in the ER in a small section with about five other patients sitting in chairs next to me doctors are constantly going to each patient and discussing their medical findings the results asking them what brings them in today and drawing blood I'm not talking about two or three couples of blood drawing blood from one patient six carpals right in front of everyone the amount of uncomfortability I sell did not stem from me walking back there and seeing an overwhelming amount of patience what made me feel like our privacy was not being honored or protected was disclosing or talking about our medical issues out in the open in front of other people. Patients should always be provided privacy that's just the bottom line we all know that especially in the healthcare field you are supposed to provide privacy and it says if that goes out of the window at this hospital one situation I had to intervene as if I was getting a paycheck when I was a patient and I had to project my voice so loud so that everyone in the ER could stop what they were doing to assist an elderly amputated man in the bed who kept requesting over and over loud enough for anyone to hear and I quote can I have a urinal please can I have a urinal please can I have a urinal please over and over repeatedly and no one acknowledge this man to where it triggered me and I advocated for him and I projected my voice to where majority of the medical team that was their stopped what they were doing stared at me and immediately attended to the man right away when I said something because it was so wrong. And we can't play devil's advocate and say well maybe everyone was so busy running around with patients that no one heard this client I was sitting right in front of the drape where the man was waiting with other patients and doctors were still coming right on the same side of the drape as me talking to clients about their medical findings and could hear the man as well anyways this is getting extremely long and that's the worst I'll address other things when I have time goodbye
My experience at this hospital was absolutely wonderful. I gave birth here on October 12, after a long labor, and throughout the entire process, the nurses and the doctor kept encouraging me and telling me that I could do it. Their kindness and words of support gave me strength when I needed it the most. Dr. Patel was extremely professional, kind, and attentive. The epidural helped relieve my labor pain, and at the moment of delivery, the anesthesiologist gave me another medication that truly eased the pain and helped me stay calm and focused. One of the nurses held me and gave me courage while I was getting the epidural ,a moment I will never forget. I was originally supposed to deliver at a different hospital, but my water broke unexpectedly, and I had to go to the nearest one. Looking back, I truly believe that God led me to the right place. I feel so grateful and blessed to have delivered my baby here, where I received such excellent and compassionate care. After giving birth, when I was transferred to a private room, the nurses brought me food right away and helped me with everything I needed. They patiently taught me how to breastfeed my baby, how to hold him properly, and how to change his diapers which meant so much to me as a first-time mom. I’m deeply thankful for Dr. Patel, the anesthesiologist, and the entire nursing staff. Their care, warmth, and professionalism made my birth experience positive, peaceful, and truly memorable. 💖 From Arlinda and Reyan🫂
