I was treated tonight at the ER and had to leave a review. I was experiencing excruciating lower back pain, suspecting something had gone wrong. Going into the ER I was expecting to wait some time. Given my pain level, I was hoping to not wait long and I’m very appreciative that I didn’t. The triage nurses were very nice and helpful given my restlessness and agitation because of pain. I did wait some time but was moved to fast track particularly quickly. Waited there and was still experiencing pain. I asked for a heating patch to help with some of the pain. The nurses didn’t have any on hand but helped me out by giving me a warm blanket to put on my lower back to help with pain. Not long after, I was seen by Dr. Cook. He was very kind and to the point. Listened to my symptoms, concerns, and was very patient with me. He was quick with his diagnosis and explained to me what was going on. Explained to me what a herniated disc was and sciatic pain and explained what the next steps should be. He explained my treatment and overall just did a very amazing job. I was in a lot of pain and he could see that so he was very quick with his actions and helped me the best he could. After being moved back to the ER waiting area to receive some medicine from the triage nurses. Overall, this has to be the best ER experience I’ve had ever so far. Every professional I saw tonight was kind, understanding, and helpful. I wish I could name them all but Dr. Cook has to be the best Dr. I’ve seen in a long time. Everything he did tonight just stuck out to me and made me want to shout him and everyone out. The only reason I can say I didn’t give it 5 stars was the trash left in the ER waiting area. I understand a lot of people go in and out of there all day long, but there was trash left along the floors and chairs. Nothing intensively gross, but just needed some TLC.
We arrived at a crowded emergency room tonight with my daughter experiencing severe pain. She was triaged and brought to the Fast Track area approximately an hour later, which I considered a reasonable wait given the high volume of patients in the waiting area. Dr. Jeffrey Cook was her attending physician. His exceptional care was impressive; he was attentive, kind, and thoroughly addressed our questions. He provided prompt treatment, ensuring my daughter received the best possible care and experience. I wish Dr. Cook were our primary care physician. Despite likely being exhausted and managing a heavy workload, he did not show any signs of fatigue in his care. I observed him escorting patients in and out of the triage room, taking the time to engage with and follow up on their conditions before discharge. It was truly remarkable to witness a doctor provide such meticulous attention and care. Thank you, Dr. Cook; your dedication made a significant impact!
Was treated terrible for chest pain and shortness of breath. Heart rate was dropping into the 40s. I wasnt monitored or put in a bed. I was only pulled every 2 hours for blood work. I felt like I couldn't breath the entire time I was in there. A girl came in and knew some of the nurses and she got a bed. I know things get busy but chest pains are serious and my heart rate is still not back to normal and I didnt get fluids I didn't pee in a cup or anything. Ive lived all over the US and this hospital is ran poorly.. sticking a patient in the lobby with a heart rate in the low 50s and they are on 31 and cannot breath and nobody monitors it? I have no clue whos in charge but its awful
Took a friend of mine in yesterday for tightness in the chest and back. She was never put in a room to be monitored. Her blood pressure was high and did not receive any treatment for it. Was given 4 aspirin, a shot of tramadol, and a GI co cocktail. Was told everything looked ok. She was sent home after 4 and a half hours with a script for nausea. BUT NOTHING FOR THE HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE. Woke up this morning still having tightness and blood pressure high. Can't get into a provider for a few weeks. So now we are at another ER. While in Kinston we saw them giving IVS and medicine in the waiting room around sick people. Discussing patients medical information in front of other people that were there to be seen. I never saw anyone being taken to a room in the back to be monitored. They would take them to do something and bring them right back including one that you could tell were really sick and in pain. Would not recommend going there. I would drive extra time to a different hospital.
I was rushed to emergency with a really bad kidney stone attack. The staff were as friendly as could be. Being i was only traveling thru and a long way from home, they took care of me better than I ever thought. I ended up having surgery and staying for a week. All the nurses, doctors and interns( sorry I can't remember everyone's names)were wonderful. The 4th floor was my home for a week and I really could not complain about much. Doctor Cox was very caring. And took great care of me. I really wish I could name all the nurses that I met but, im terrible at names. But, I can say they were A+
