I don’t even know where to start. My daughter was born with Spina Bifida. Since day one she has been treated at Yale. Some doctors and nurses truly care, but the majority of the doctors and nurses and staff we’ve dealt with has been a nightmare to work with. We are a lay back family, very independent and willing to learn as much as we can to help our daughter, but we have questions sometimes and they just have no patience to answer your questions but are super quick to charge your insurance. My daughter recently had a major surgery. While at the hospital, they “trained” us so we can help her post surgery, we left the hospital with a lot of unanswered questions. After a week and a half, my daughter had to go back to have revision surgery. When the doctor who performed the surgery this time came to talk to us about how the surgery went, we asked questions that I think were too much for him because he was in a rush or something because he kept on sighing, making us feel very uncomfortable and insecure. Thankfully m, my request to keep my daughter in the hospital for the night was honored. See, no one wants to spend time in the hospital, but it was necessary for us because we felt it was the only way to get our questions answers. We met with the PT and all the questions I asked were a answered, thankfully, but to our disappointment, we also found out that the way we were trained the first time was incorrect and could have been a reason why my daughter’s incision wound was compromised and therefore needed revision surgery. As a mother while loves her daughter, my heart dropped and felt angry to know that perhaps I did something to hurt her because they gave incorrect directions. I think this is beyond unacceptable. These are professionals who are getting pay a lot of money do their job and yet they don’t care. My advice to you is, don’t be fooled by the name. I understand YALE is big in the medical field but for what I’ve experienced, it is just a simple name that doesn’t live up to it’s values and all they care about is reputation, recognition and money and no the patients. We are currently looking into another hospital that can provide a better care for the type of diagnosis my daughter has. Sometimes, you might need to make impactful decisions, in our case perhaps moving to a different state so my daughter can be under the care of professionals who put compassions dedication, accountability, professionalism and the patients above money.
Was sent to the er per the surgeon’s advice due to updates I had sent. Was sent away with minimal help, and now it’s very apparent he’s further declining as he can’t sleep through the night. So now taking him to more local hospital in hopes someone feels like putting my three year old at ease. Disgusted with my experience, and I hope we don’t have to endure anymore. And also decor in patient rooms have been drab for years…. Do better!

Yale Children’s Hospital has the best nurses and doctors! Everyone is so kind, polite, and attentive. They truly care and make sure to check on patients regularly. I’m so grateful for the amazing care we received.
This hospital is disgusting! My daughter was transferred for a gallbladder surgery complication! Upon arrival she was put into a room with a child whose parent has a stomach bug as if my child needs that type of exposure. Then to top that going back down the elevator to get air from these people acting as if risking the life of my child is cool I see a huge cockroach crawling across the elevator floor! I literally can not and I am mind blown this place is said to be the best hospital for children yet it’s a complete heath hazard. At this point I am about to discharge my child against medical advice and go else where bc this hospital is absolutely disgusting!
