Hospital states quite plainly I'm to be here for 2 weeks until the antibiotic course is finished. A different doctor than the one who stated that comes out and states were going to put you on an oral antibiotic regardless of what the other physician has stated. I'm paying the price for 0 agreement between the doctor's. I've yet to see the physician who's actually caring for me. WELL THEY DO PAY THE HOSPITAL, BUT ALSO ASK WHY IN THE WORLD WERE THEY TRYING TO RELASE YOU, REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE DOCTORS SAID.
The care here is excellent. The billing department is down right criminal. They will try to double billing you. Pay for what you already paid for. If that doesn't work they up code the bill, add things you never received. No accountability, no one cares. Taking advantage of people in desperate need. I never thought a hospital would be so shady.
Because our car broke the day before, I was taken to SVMC Bennington ER, in an ambulance, with, what turned out to be a mini stroke. ALL the nurses were very kind, and supportive, even Adam, who was growing weary toward the end of his long shift; he never broke! All the doctors, patient advocates, PT staff etc. were great. All the Lab people, and the MRI staff were great. The woman who did my bubble test also! Basically everyone was wonderful , very much including the 2 women who helped me get a ride home! God Bless you both! My only issue with the hospital is that they won't let you peacefully sleep. I was completely exhausted from several stressful days before my episode and I was mentally falling apart. I told them I had not slept more than 7 hours in 3 stressful days, and if I didn't get some sleep I would die from that. They told me they couldn't keep staff from going into my room. Probably hospital policy. I ended up checking out, and sitting in the ER until the 2 aforementioned wonderful ladies were able to get me a voucher for a ride home! Hospitals are where you go for health care! Being able to sleep is important to recovery!!! Just basic common sense, and human decency!
The imaging experience was excellent. But the reading was sent to radiology associates of Bennington. There is no choice, you sign a consent form and if course you want your mammogram to be read. My insurance info was sent to Radiology Associates but they billed me anyhow. I have 100% coverage. I called them, contacted my insurance and had the authorization number sent. They received it but billed me again. I called them. They said it wouldn't go to debt collection but it did. My insurance company called them with me on the line, gave them the info again. I think it's finally resolved after 5 weeks of daily or more harassing texts and calls from debt collection. How can you send a debt to collection when it's not a debt. The release form and the form that says you're obligated to pay if insurance "doesn't." Well for insurance to pay the radiology needs to actually use the authorization number. This is an implicit two-way contract. Shame on SVMC for knowing about these illegal practices and continuing to do business with Radiology Associates of Bennington.
Extremely disappointed in the overall knowledge and attentiveness of the women’s and children’s department, specifically the pediatricians. The traveling pediatrician they use (Dr. Harris) did not take the time to look into our specific situation nor was he able to list off any of the potential side effects/complications of the treatment our new born was getting. We’re overall extremely let down by the birthing experience of our first born, everyone seemed to tell us something different while not truly having any knowledge of the situation. The second we questioned the treatment the nurses used extreme scare tactics to push us into moving forward with a treatment for an issue they couldn’t even pronounce correctly, without giving us any information, knowledge, or crucial details of the treatment. Our experience was by no means individualized for our specific situation, it seemed like they were just pulling cards and throwing them at us to see what would work, while telling us that are situation is extremely high risk. On top of all of that, they talk to you like you were born yesterday, and the two pediatricians we talked to had two very different ideas for a solution and could not agree on what to do. I would steer very clear from SVHC.
