I am so appalled with this place and their complete and utter lack of appropriate management that I don't even know where to start. But I'll at least start with the fact that I cannot give an opinion on the sleep study itself, since I didn't have one and nor did the other patient scheduled. Upon arrival nobody knew what was going on. The check-in kept trying to get hold of the sleep lab, But the people were unresponsive. Sleep lab lights off nobody answering. They eventually found out that one tech had called out the day before, and two of them had called out of the day of. Nobody bothered to inform myself or the other patient who both waited 6 months for the appointments and traveled an hour to get to there. They literally had two patients that were sleep deprived and exhausted come all the way out waste time wondering what the heck was happening while they assured me because I was getting super anxious that everything was going to be fine and I would be getting the sleep study. Only to do a complete 180 and tell us that "sorry we don't really know what happened exactly." It's completely unethical to toy with people's life and health and safety like that. Also, I was told this was a one off. But it clearly is not. The other patient told me that this was her second time arriving for her sleep study only to get sent home because of staffing issues. This was in addition to the two times that she got canceled over the phone shortly before her scheduled slot. She has been waiting over a year because they keep canceling on her. I am suffering, and I am exhausted, And I was not even given the simple courtesy of a phone call.
Todd was incredible! He kept me relaxed and informed with a great sense of humor and made me feel at ease despite nerves. The individual room was spacious and comfortable but I definitely recommend a few home touches like a favorite pillow for the best possible sleep.
Just went for my second sleep study at Saint Vincents and had no complaints! The staff is all super nice, helpful and they try to make you as comfortable as can be. Todd was my tech for the night and he was super sweet and funny. You can tell he truly love’s his job and the people he works with. Highly recommend :)
I just brought my 2 year old son and everything was accommodated for or has been explained in detail can’t talk highly enough of the staff especially a tech named Todd get him for children he’s the best
I had a terrible experience at the St. Vincent Hospital Sleep Lab. To start, staff did not properly explain the process-- I was basically hooked up to their monitoring equipment and told "Good luck." Yes, I was given the opportunity to ask questions, but "you don't know what you don't know." I would have appreciated a lot more explanation at the start. Also, the sleep lab seems to be designed to inhibit sleep. The HVAC system loudly drones throughout the night and the room is far from sound-proof. During my stay there, I could hear staff talking, opening and closing doors, and even using their microwave multiple times throughout the night. I was told that if I needed help during the night, I should just speak up and a staff member (who is supposed to be always listening) will respond. However, I called out for help three times during the night and never got a response. My sleep study was scheduled to include an overnight study and additional tests the following day. However, due to the inhospitable environment I was in, I was only able to get about 2 hours of sleep and the study was cut short (6 hours of sleep were required to continue testing). How am I expected to get 6 hours of sleep in such a noisy environment with inattentive and inconsiderate staff members? The St. Vincent Hospital Sleep Lab needs a structural overhaul and the staff need to be retrained on how to help patients achieve a successful study. I recommend avoiding this facility wherever possible.
