I've had a great experience here with every person I've encountered. Everyone is very kind, knowledgeable and helpful. I'm able to get appts scheduled within a reasonable amount of time. They keep me informed via the MaineHealth portal or by phone. They send test results ASAP, and they are quick to send prescriptions as needed. Great office!
My whole experience with SMHC pulmonary & sleep medicine has been bizarre. When I got there for my appointment, the staff at the desk freaked out at me because my medical records hadn't been transferred over by my provider (how I was supposed to know this, I do not know) and the whole intake process was frantic. Then, Dr. Roy had the worst bedside manner of any doctor I have ever had the (dis)pleasure of seeing. I'm not sure if he felt long COVID isn't real, or whether he thought I was lying about not having apnea since I'm overweight, but the entire visit made me feel gaslit. Nonetheless, I was referred for a pulmonary function test. I went for a second and third opinion because I was so wary of the entire experience, then I canceled the function test and let SMHC know I was seeing another provider instead. They just called to remind me of my upcoming test and acted shocked that I wasn't attending after I had canceled with them. I've been to a lot of medical appointments in my life, but this was by far the absolute strangest experience of them all.
Great staff, very friendly and attentive, they will not take up too much of your time, but still manage to give all the time you need for questions and concerns. Would recommend.
