The entire process from check-in to recovery and going home was awesome. Every person I interacted with had great customer service and were very helpful. This place sets a standard on how medical procedure should be done and how customers should be treated.
I went into the ER very early with extreme abdominal pain. The ER staff were great and managed my pain the best they could. I was sent for a CT and that staff was great, very caring. After receiving the CT report, I was sent for an Ultrasound. The woman who performed my US wasn’t very caring at all. The moment she told me to move from the wheelchair to the table (unassisted) she immediately told me that I was going to have put my legs down and move as close to her as I could. At this point my pain was probably a 7/10. As soon as she pushed on my abdomen, my reflex was to tighten my stomach muscles to protect me from the pain. She stopped what she was doing and told me if I didn’t relax that she wouldn’t do the test. I would expect that if I had a patient in that much pain that I would kindly explain the procedure and that it would likely be uncomfortable. When she was done, she threw some washcloths on me, told me to wipe myself off and get back in the wheelchair (again, unassisted). She then took me to the hallway and left me there. Sitting in a hallway in a gown, everyone walking by and staring at me, not knowing what was happening. Transport got me back to the ER and I was told that I needed surgery. I was told by my ER nurse (Nick, very kind) that I would be admitted and that my surgery would be later that afternoon. I was taken to the 2nd floor and placed in a room where the nurse told me what to expect, that I could leave my belongings in my room and that she would be there when I got back. I met with an RN via tele-video, who did all of the admitting stuff. The surgeon came in and explained the surgery and expectations. I told him that I was worried about being sent home in as much pain as I was having. He said that I was staying overnight for observation just for this reason. Surgery went well and after I woke up, I was told that I had been moved to the 3rd floor. No problem. However, no one told my husband and father that my room had been moved and no one took my belongings to the new room. When I got to the 3rd floor, I was told that my nurse (Greg) would be in to take my vitals and check on me. Greg came in after probably 30 minutes but never checked my vitals. He had my discharge papers in his hand and asked “are you ready for my speech?”. I was confused and told him that I was told I would be staying overnight. He told me and my husband that his boss said as soon as I got up and peed, that I need to leave. I asked for pain medicine, which he eventually brought. I asked about dinner and he brought me a menu. I told him I wanted a grilled cheese and tomato soup. About 5 minutes later, a woman walked in and placed a tray on my table (which I couldn’t reach) and walked out without a word. My husband moved my table and removed the cover and it was meatloaf, not what I ordered. Greg didn’t come back to my room for at least another 30 minutes and when he did, he asked me again if I was ready to hear his speech. I got frustrated and got out of bed (without Greg’s help) and went to the bathroom. My husband told Greg that I was ready to leave since I clearly was being admitted and he began his speech and laid my discharge paperwork on my bed. Greg then brought a wheelchair in and tried helping me move. I asked if he was going to remove my IV and he said “oh yeah” (I had an IV in each hand). I laid both of my hands out and he removed one. I asked if he was going to remove the other one which he replied “oh that’s weird”. Several times we heard Greg talk about needing to leave early and giving his co-workers instructions for taking care of his patients. Fortunately, I didn’t experience any issues after going home. My experience at the hospital was overall very pleasant, considering the reason I was there. I am very disappointed in the Ultrasound tech and the floor nurse, Greg, who kicked me out so he could leave.
I had such a great 1st time experience with LSMC. The front desk where I checked in greeted me with a smile and what I needed to do. My appointment for a CT was right on time and took less than 10 minutes. The entire staff was friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and answered all my questions. Great Experience
My daughter had to come to the ER because we did not know if she twisted or broke her ankle. The staff from check in to check out were phenomenal. Ivanna checked us in and was so sweet, in explaining what was going on and making my kiddo feel special. We had a family friend with us annd she anlso kept her informed as well. Our nurse Matthew was knowledgeable, and even let my daughter “help” with the bandages. Karen the xray tech was friendly and kind. Another ER nurse William kept my girl calm and laughing. The doctor, dr. S, was very informative, kind, and gave me a good plan for going home. My pediatrician was happy with the splint they did and care I said I got as well. Overall great experience, and great staff.
I was very impressed with everyone from registration to discharge. April in pre-op was pleasant and capable and made me feel well cared for. I don't remember being taken into surgery or being in recovery. I do remember all the wonderful nurses and other caregivers that were super nice, patient and made me feel comfortable. Miriam was a big help with my bath and so kind and competent. Karen kept my room/bathroom clean, and she always had a smile on her face. The head of food service went out of his way to be accommodating. I would highly recommend your facility.
