This experience was extremely disappointing. We waited a month for my son’s appointment. The morning of the appointment we weren’t feeling well, which made leaving the house difficult. I called ahead to let the office know we would be about 10 minutes late and was told that after 10 minutes we would have to reschedule. I explained that my GPS showed arrival at 10 minutes late, but that parking and walking in would put us just past that window. I also shared that we live far away and asked if I should reschedule rather than make the trip and be turned away. I was encouraged to still come and told it should be fine. We checked in 11 minutes late and were immediately told to reschedule. This was a consultation for my 6-year-old son who has autism and is mostly nonverbal. Families of children with disabilities already face many barriers to accessing care, and some flexibility and understanding is essential. After being told to still come, being turned away over one minute felt pretty extreme. Policies matter, but so does clear communication and compassion—especially when caring for children with special needs. I rescheduled, but I will be asking our pediatrician to refer us elsewhere
Deena made my experience at the sleep center a great experience! She made me feel very comfortable and explained the process very well. :)
The lab techs were extremely nice, patient, & helpful with answering questions/explaining what they were doing/the process for the test. I was actually a little scared going in, but after meeting & talking with them it went away pretty quickly. The facility was really nice & not at all what I expected. I'm a very light sleeper, & there were no monitor screens or clocks or beeping in the room. Everything you were attached to must just broadcast to the other room where the techs are. They also don't surprise you when coming in to adjust anything, or blind you flipping on bright lights. They were very nice & thoughtful the whole time...they should get a raise.🙂
This is the first sleep study I have done, so I didn't know what to really expect. Turns out that it was not so bad. Checked in at 8:30 PM, did some quick paperwork and was given a privet room. Rooms are very nice, have a Sleep Number bed, TV, and a sink to wash up. They explained what would be done and then hooked me up to lots of wires and sensors. I was allowed to relax and watch the TV in my room until 11:00 PM. Then they come in and hooked the wires to their machines and your off to go to sleep. 6:00 AM, it's time to take off all the wires, fill out a quick questioner, and your out of there. The staff were very pleasant, informative, and professional in every way. I would highly recommend this facility to everyone.
I felt super nervous sleeping away from home, but the staff and facility was super clean and welcoming. I had forgotten to bring my personal fan because I can’t sleep without the sound of a fan but I was relived to see that they had one in my room. Also, they have amazing sleep number beds and it’s so awesome that it is set up to look like an actual bedroom.
