My daughter had a disappointing experience in the mother-baby unit at Mitchell Hospital following her C-section. Staff did not provide education on C-Section care or provide a belly band for support, which is especially concerning when you're recovering from major surgery. The bathroom was unclean, with visible mold on the shower curtain and hair on the shower walls, although there was a sticker stating the shower had been sanitized. These issues made the environment feel unsafe and unsanitary. As a new mother in recovery, I felt neglected during a time when care should have been at its highest. Mitchell Hospital seriously needs to improve both patient care and facility standards.

This could be the worst place! The doctor don’t care if your in pain or bleeding out. The med student are new on everything I get that but doctors leave them alone while doing everything! They talk bad about their patients and disrespect them knowing they are sick. Mostly the person who gets your information for insurance and everything. My husband couldn’t respond for him self and base on the fact he didn’t understand her and I just knew all the answers. Like what’s her problem. I feel that this hospital should be your last resort or never come here!!!! Rooms are nasty bathrooms are nasty people who are staff are rude and have no respect for nobody! Food is nasty ! Doctors are the worst !!! I hated this hospital! Never coming back! But only if you get hospitalized the nurses are great and honest

The communication needs to be much better. While my mother was in the ICU, we were told multiple, different stories about visitation hours. I appreciate most of the communication that was provided. However, before my mother was to be transferred, I was supposed to receive notification that she was moving to another facility, and I didn't hear from anyone. I really used to admire this hospital; now, not so much.

Negligent and if you want your loved ones to live DO NOT SEND THEM HERE! My loved one came all the way from Kentucky for a surgery procedure and she ended up worst off than she was prior to having said procedure. After the surgery she had extreme low blood pressure and developed an infection in her stomach. They even wanted to release her knowing her condition but after making a fuss they decided to have some common sense and keep her until she was stabilized. Long story short she went to Mitchell for surgery in February and on 3/31 she had to go back to hospital and died from blood sepsis. This is because they never took her complaints seriously to begin with. She also had a doctor who was very dismissive and later found he was only an intern! She never seen nor spoke with an actual doctor the entire time she was there and now she's dead.

Mostly good nurses and assistants (in a 4 day stay, only had one I would really complain about in about 7 rotations, absolutely loved the night teams, despite having to wake up for overnight vitals and IVs). Limited time with doctors outside of rounds and discharge, but that's pretty typical for a hospital. I found cleanliness to be front of mind. Bedding changes and clothing changes were kind of limited to my mobility (I was mostly bed bound), but whenever i would ask the nurse for help getting up to visit the commode, the nurse would make sure to swap out the bedding and offer a change in gown. In terms of more general cleanliness, I believe my room was swept and the bathroom disinfected every day. The only true negative to my visit after admission was the food and food service team. Also my time in the ER lobby was fairly miserable. If you have a visible wound or infection, make sure a triage nurse gets eyes on it, otherwise you will not be prioritized correctly, and will wait much longer than you should. Once I had a bed, everything was much smoother.
