I arrived 11 or 12 minutes late to my appointment; no more than that. It took several minutes to find a parking space however I own that one. After a 15-minute wait they called me over and told me we have a policy of a 10-minute grace period and have to cancel your appointment because you were more than 10 minutes late. No matter I have been on time before in other visits and have had to wait for the NP. Well guess what . . . I also have a policy. If you make me wait more than 10 minutes to tell me you're canceling my appointment when you could have told me sooner I will find another care provider.

I wish we would have check reviews before going to this place. My husband did the test at home in December and was told to come in April for the results. We had to cancel due to emergency and he was rescheduled in September. Not to mention that the first appointment before the test was way earlier that year. Almost 2 years for someone to tell him yes or no if he has apnea. ridiculous. Don't pick this place. They should not take new patients if so busy. And I wonder how come they are so busy with these kind of reviews.

I was told my appointment was at 10:20 but it was actually at 10 I got there at Caxton at 10:20 and they said because I was over 15 minutes late they wouldn’t see me. I was sobbing in the waiting room begging to be seen because I need this appointment before surgery and they wouldn’t budge at all. The Dr refused to see me and had no compassion for my situation. They even told me she was already with her next appointment when my slotted appointment time was until 10:40. I understand that businesses have policies I myself being a small business owner but I also have compassion for my fellow humans and am understanding. I’m so disappointed with how this center runs and I was worried about going here with the low rating on google and now I understand why it is rated so low.

i moved to Texas last April. I saw a new sleep doctor in Texas in October and they had me sign a request for my last sleep study. They requested my sleep study this past October with multiple requests and no response. I called Hoag sleep center about two weeks ago and let them know my needs. They said a supervisor would call me. No call. I believe they have violated some part of HIPPA. Update: they finally sent my sleep study to my new sleep doctor. If during this time my old machine had gone out It would have been bad.

I just finished my Sleep Study test at Hoag in Newport Beach, and wanted to leave a thorough review, while it's still fresh in my mind. If you're nervous about taking the test, that is understandable. There are three sleep study technicians when you arrive, and they're each assigned two patients. You're technician will help you get situated, answer all your questions, and monitor you through out the night. You should arrive between 7.30pm and 8pm. If possible, it's beneficiary to arrive closer to 7.30pm. As you arrive you're assigned your technician, fill out a few forms, and your technician will spend about 25 minutes explaining the process to you and attaching all the little wires to monitor you through out the night. It's best to come early, and get all this out of the way first, so you can unwind and get the sleep study started. You have your own room, with a bathroom and a TV. It's actually a very nice set up; very similar to a small hotel room. Personally, I believe the sleep study would like you to fall asleep around 10pm, and wake up at 6am. This is not always possible; it wasn't for me. Although I turned off the TV and lights around 9.30pm, it took me a considerable amount of time to fall asleep. It was uncomfortable having all the wires attached to me, and it felt as if there was a very short distance between the wires and the box that they're attached to. If you move a lot, sweat, and the wires (which are held together by a glue-like adhesive) come undone, your technician will come into the room and re-attached the wires. I also sleep naturally on my stomach, and my technician advised me that sleeping on my back or side was ideal. This was not mentioned to me prior to the test. I also saw other participants bring their own bedding and pillows. I was also not told I could do this. The sleep study will provide you with bedding. Maybe writing down thought out questions, and calling a couple days before your test, will give you more insight on what to expect. In my case, what to expect was very vague. Unfortunately, my sleep test was not a success in my eyes. I'm still awaiting the results (about 2 weeks.) I've been wearing a Fitbit to bed for years now, and find their sleep app pretty decent in giving me an estimate of the quality of sleep I receive. When my sleep study concluded, I checked my Fitbit app, and it was the worse quality of sleep I have ever had. I have fallen asleep on long haul, transatlantic fights and felt I had better sleep. When my test was over, I went home, and slept for an additional 4 hours; that 4 hours was better quality, than the 8 hours spent at the sleep study test. Please understand that everyone is different, and I'm looking forward to the results from the doctor. However, I'm already disappointed, because I do not feel as if I had any deep sleep. Final thoughts; drinking caffeine is not advised the day of the test. They want you to come in as natural as possible. However, I think taking a cap full of Nyquil would have helped me fall asleep. I asked the technician if I could have taken a sleep aid, and she made me feel as if I could, so more vague information. Also, showers are provided if you need one. However, depending on how your sleep study tests goes, plan on having a very light day afterwards. I was exhausted after my test, and spent the rest of the day at home. I really appreciate the opportunity to have taken a sleep study test. It's my understanding that people struggle with quality sleep, and never get this type of test done. Go into the test with an open mind, and that it might be a little uncomfortable. Write down all your questions and go over them with the Sleep Study department before you arrive. This is a great step in discovering more insight into your sleep health.
