Saint Alphonsus Sleep Disorders Center - Baker City

My mother, Gail Brown, was transferred to St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Baker City, OR after breaking her hip, and she spent two weeks in the Swing Bed rehabilitation program. I stayed with her throughout her entire stay, and I cannot express how extraordinary the care was. Every single person we encountered treated her with compassion, respect, and genuine warmth. From day one, the nursing staff came in every hour to check on her — taking vitals, helping her to and from the restroom, refreshing her water, bringing tissues, tidying up her room, and making sure she was comfortable. Their cheerful attitudes and consistent kindness made an enormous difference in her healing. I want to personally recognize the incredible day nurses who cared for her: Cassie, Shaylee, Chrisa, Ashley, Bob, Dan, Alondra, Sean, Holly, Ruthie, John E., John K., and Stephanie. Their patience, positivity, and attentiveness were unmatched. They truly made Mom feel supported and safe every step of the way. Her therapists were also outstanding. James, her physical therapist, balanced energy with patience, and he celebrated every bit of progress she made. Brandon, her occupational therapist, worked closely with Kelly to help Mom push through pain safely while teaching her how to regain strength both in the hospital and at home. Their encouragement built her confidence and helped her move forward much faster than expected. A huge highlight of her stay was the food service. With two professional chefs, Cheryl and Ryan, Mom received custom meals tailored to her likes, dislikes, and dietary needs. They prepared everything with care — it felt more like dining at a boutique hotel than a hospital. The staff also took time to connect with us personally, sharing stories, photos of their families, and genuine conversation. They made what could have been a difficult two weeks feel more like a warm, supportive retreat rather than a medical stay. Her physicians, Dr. O. and Dr. Holmes, checked in often, discussed her pain management, medication adjustments, and progress, and ensured that her transition home would be smooth and safe. Their professionalism and attention to detail gave us enormous peace of mind. As a family member who was at my mother’s side the entire time, I am deeply grateful for the love, care, concern, and competence displayed by every person at St. Alphonsus. The Swing Bed team turned a frightening situation into a healing experience filled with comfort and hope. I cannot recommend this medical center highly enough.

My son has bad Asthma. Every time both Dr Richards son and dad are there they make sure my son is taken care of. Today I had to drive my son to the hospital and he was in very bad shape. The young Dr Richards took very good care of my son. The nurses and respiratory nurse was great today to.

Jennifer Hoffman and her team at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center demonstrated the highest quality of care and were very kind, considerate, educated and professional during my recent visit. My medical concerns were addressed and explained to me in a way where I didn't feel belittled, disrespected nor less than and that really opened the door for me to feel as though I could ask as many questions about my health and not feel judged. I HIGHLY recommend Jennifer Hoffman and her team and I would like to say thank you all once again for your hard work and dedication.
