I love my PCP, Dr. Pamela Goodwin-Cole. She never rushes our visits. She is not a "pill prescriber". She will refer you to a specialist if she can't handle the situation or for additional consultations. The staff in the office are very nice as well. I'm glad that I found her after being with my prior PCP for 18 years!
While the lobby of the facility is well kept the rest of the facility is filthy and in disrepair. The staff are unprofessional and in need of training. The doctor I saw was rude and caused me to raise my eyebrows more than once. I came here because it was closer to home, thinking I would find decent care. Instead I found unprofessional doctors and staff, a filthy facility and a bill that was not properly coded for my visit. I am disgusted. Beware of this location if you are looking for quality service in a well kept environment. If I could give less than 1 star I would.
Staff was horrible with no urgency towards an emergency even though it’s urgent care. Once we got to a room, A nurse named Danielle had an attitude towards my girlfriend emergency, she rolled her eyes when getting asked questions and was interrogating her like my gf was lying about her symptoms. Then when I asked a question her response was “ask your girlfriend about it” who was already having troubles catching her breath. I asked the staff to have another nurse to replace her and they all looked dumbfounded And just staring. Long story short we ended up driving 30+ mins to new Lennox for better care, which risked my gf health as she was on the verge of passing out. I DO NOT recommend this place what so ever.
Most of my doctors are here and I’ve used the urgent care side many times over the years. My experiences have overall been very good. It’s your job to check what your insurance covers, so do YOUR job and find this out before blaming the facility what co-pay your insurance charges, how much deductible YOU are responsible for, and more importantly, understand the triage process for urgent cares. It’s not a first come first serve. So many people come in here twiddling their thumbs and get angry when they’re waiting for hours and have no clue about the process.
We always have great experiences here. We love our doctors and the lab is usually very quick. Most of the bad reviews are of the Urgent care, mainly the high price (it is a free standing ER and bills at ER prices) and the long wait times. We have found the wait times here to be shorter than the average hospital ER. If you go to Ingalls Hospital ER (in Harvey), wait times are typically 4 hours or more in my experience. At the Ingalls urgent care the wait has always been less than an hour. Receptionists have always been nice when we were there. Also for quick care for more minor things, viruses etc. there is an U of C Health Care clinic on Halsted in Homewood that is much more affordable than Urgent care.
