I was super nervous about my sleep study, especially seeing the reviews of this facility. But I was extremely surprised when I got there. The staff was super friendly, the room was clean and very much like a hotel room, bathroom clean and even had some toiletries. I wasn't quite sure what to expect regarding the actual study but it was thoroughly explained and all my questions were answered. Regarding the procedure, be prepared for a lot of wires. I don't know how they keep track of what goes where but there are easily 2 dozen wires. Definitely bring your own pillow and blanket and wear loose bedtime clothing. I would highly recommend coming here.
They keep canceling my in-person appointments last minute. Today, they canceled, and the next one is until October, more than 3 months later. They refused to give me an earlier date, though they had canceled me at least 2 times. Seems to be wanting to force patients to see nurses only or have a video visit with the doctor. I'm not sure how a video visit is useful at all here. I have been a patient here since 2008. It is a shame how the quality of service has gone so bad for PAMF and for this sleep center specifically.
It is true, getting them on the phone to book an appointment is close to impossible because they are understaffed. However, once the ordeal has passed and you are actually able to go there, the experience is actually quiet positive. The room and bathroom are very clean, they provide toothbrush and toothpaste, shampoo and soap. You have a TV and free wifi to keep yourself entertained until you feel tired. Then the staff comes to plug all the electrodes on you and explain everything they will do, when they will wake you up to, optionally, use a CPAP etc. Putting aside all the equipment and the discomfort of having to wear a CPAP and how movement is limited (especially when used to moving a lot during the night like me), overall I was satisfied with the experience and would have no issues going back to this facility if I needed to get another sleep study done. My best to the team who unfortunately has to suffer from the reviews because of the booking difficulties.
I met with Dr Lieberman this morning for a sleep consultation. He was vey professional & thorough. He did recommend that I schedule myself for a sleep study and told me it needs to be done over the phone. All these reviews are correct. I've now been on hold for over 40 minutes. No one is answering the phone. If they are so understaffed, then why won't they let us schedule the appointment online? I don't get it. I would like to get to the root of my sleep issues but it looks like I will need to find another sleep lab to go to. All the responses say to contact social (at) sutter health but that doesn't fix anything. Hire more people or let us schedule online!
I am currently a patient at this sleep center but I did not have good experience before 1) Similar to Lucia's review, I called the office to schedule an initial appointment. I asked the front desk the cost because I had to pay out of the pocket money. The guy said just come to see the doctor for initial appointment and asked for the cost. Thus, I had an impression that the consultation should not be charged. On the first appointment, I only saw the doctor 10-15 minutes after filling out paperwork. He just went over the questionnaire and asked me to come back for in-home sleep study. After few weeks, I were surprised to receive a bill of $500. I talked to the billing department but they did not care so I had no choice to pay. If I knew that I had to pay for it, I would wait for my new insurance active within a week (my first appointment was in last week of December 2017), 2) I made an appointment to come back for in-home sleep study. I told the front desk that I had new insurance. She assured me that she would change my record to new insurance and made sure I was authorized for my HMO insurance before the appointment. Close to the appointment, I called and checked if my insurance authorized for the sleep study. I was surprise that my new insurance was not updated. They transferred my call to record department to update. They transferred me back to the front desk and I asked to make sure this new insurance was updated and my insurance was OK with the service. On the day of my appointment, they told me to start the service by picking up the in-home sleep study machine. To be sure that I did not get another surprised bill, I asked the front desk to check if my insurance authorized for this service and I found out that no one bothered to call. I had to wait for 5 minutes for them to make a call to my insurance to get authorized. Updated: Added one more star for Elizabeth and the Social Care team. I contacted them and discussed my billing situation. They worked with me and reimbursed some money. Good service. Thanks.
