The er has turned into a walk in care clinic and the communication between doctors and nurses is non existent. The coverage for urology and id doctors are absolutely ridiculous- while the doctors themselves are good, they do not seem to work together as a team and many balls get dropped- we have been admitted twice for unresolved infection due to surgery and no progress or coordination in getting to resolution. Heaven forbid you actually need help on a short staff day- we have been we for hours because doctors are out of the office - we are definitely leaving the state - healthcare has degraded since pandemic and not been able to recover - run don’t walk to Spokane or Seattle
I've known and heard stories of too many elderly patients who have been mistreated and died. My stepfather who was too weak to walk let alone "fight" anyone was restrained and administered so many sedatives I'm sure its what killed him. He went in with a mini-stroke and uti, and came home with a prognosis of 1 to 2 days to live in a coma. He died because of their malpractice and incompetence. I am a transgender person and it is on my medical chart that I have gender dysphoria, they almost never call me by the proper name or pronoun even though its at the very top of the patient chart they see before they see me. If you have anything beyond a basic ailment don't expect to be treated, they'll tell you you need a specialist. Then, you'll have tonwait months to get into someone who is just as overworked and incompetent. Confluence health is the worst medical establishment I've ever been to and its a shame it's the only option around that dosen't take several hours to get to. If zero stars were an option I'd give it.
Confluence misdiagnosed my breast cancer as a benign condition for a YEAR, allowing my cancer to spread and become a life-threatening Stage 3 situation. In summer 2023 I discovered a lump, so I came in to Confluence for a mammogram and ultrasound that September. The radiologist said it looked benign and told me to come back in 6 months for another mammogram, which I did in March 2023. I got the same radiologist who again said it looked like a benign fibroadenoma. He did not do a physical exam, nor did he recommend a biopsy or even do an ultrasound at that visit. I returned in September 2024 for the next 6 month follow-up mammogram and had a different, female radiologist who did an ultrasound and physical exam in addition to the mammogram as well as recommended me for a biopsy a week later, which unfortunately confirmed that I had a very aggressive grade 3 and now relatively ADVANCED form of breast cancer! I really wish Confluence had caught it when I presented myself with a lump for their inspection back in September 2023. By the time Confluence finally diagnosed my cancer, it had already spread into my axillary lymph nodes, which is a much more dangerous situation than if it had been caught a year earlier when it was most likely localized in my breast only. I ended up having to have all my lymph nodes surgically removed. :-( By the time Confluence finally managed an accurate diagnosis, I was NOT feeling very trusting of Confluence's competence in identifying cancer, let alone treating it, so I decided to travel over the mountains all winter to Swedish in Seattle for my chemotherapy infusions and for two surgeries in the spring of 2025. I did choose to have radiation treatments at Confluence this past June 2025 after doing a lot of research on the technology and getting second opinions from radiation oncologists at Fred Hutch as well as MD Anderson and asking the Confluence doctor a ton of questions and comparing his answers to the other doctors. Everyone I've interacted with at Confluence has been kind and personable, but I was pretty bummed that they missed on such a big thing as identifying a large, palpable, visible cancerous lump. I'm not exactly upset with Confluence. I still take my kids there for acne treatments, but I wanted to warn other potential patients to do your due diligence and get second opinions from other medical professionals. Don't rely solely on Confluence in matters of life and death!
My husband was recently in the ER. I was saddened to see how long folks had to wait to be seen. Although once my husband was brought back, the nurses and doctors were lovely. He was admitted for several days. Overall we were very happy with the care he received. My only suggestion is to have a pop up tent outside the ER waiting room over the benches, so people waiting aren’t stuck inside an overcrowded area of sick people with no seating left. (Like the tents used during COVID)
