I went in with my sister who was the patient. The medical assistant was cold and unwelcoming. The doctor was great. But the icing on the cake was the rude, disrespectful front desk receptionist. She was just nasty and made my sister feel like her questions were burdensome and unimportant. Luckily, there was another lady who chimed in and kindly answered her questions several times when the other person just looked smugly at my sister and offered zero help. It was super bizarre. The uncaring nature of the support staff towards people who are sick or facing cancer is highly disappointing. I recommend the doctors look for some new staff as they set the tone for how well people feel cared for.
This would be a zero star review if they would give me that option. First of all, you can't get through to these people by phone and when they call you, it's an automated message on the line instead of a human being. Very frustrating. Then when I showed up for my appointment, I parked on the north side of the building because that was the only parking lot I saw. I was then told by the lady at the front desk to move my car and park under the building. I asked her 3 times what side of the building the ramp was on and her answer was the same thing each time. That parking was under the building. I didn't think that asking where the ramp was in order to get there was too difficult of a question but apparently it was. Then the icing on the cake walked into one of the rooms that I was waiting in. It looked like she was a doctor from India and as soon as I started to describe my symptoms so she would know how to treat me, she cut me off and told me that SHE'LL ask the questions. She was very rude and when I explained that I needed to be able to tell her what's going on with me, she flat out told me that she didn't have time for that. I found this to be unbelievable. After all, I would have been paying her to do a service, not the other way around but she thought she knew it all without having to talk to her client. I can't believe they stay in business operating this way. She then accused me of raising my voice and pointing my finger at her which is far from the truth. It was so far from the truth, it felt like I was in the Twilight zone! At that point, I told her that we were done here and I walked out. I don't have the patience to deal with some doctor's psychological issues when I was there to get treated myself for a medical problem. That was insane and she should get herself a good shrink. I would advise anyone who's looking for a pulmonary specialist to avoid this place like the plague.
I was in a few weeks ago and they did not schedule me for a follow up appointment until late November. In the meantime I have been trying to contact them through phone messages and emails and they never call back. They have the worst patient manners.
I was seen by Dr. Benjamin Willett at Salem Pulmonary in February this year. He agreed I was the perfect candidate for the Inspire.com device, and promised to get me an appointment with the surgeon ASAP. I've heard nothing from him or his medical assistant. I've left numerous messages on their voice mails and the answering service, and even had the Inspire.com folks call the office. They were unsuccessful. It's August now. Salem Pulmonary had no issues with charging my insurance/me $368 for a consultation. Inspire.com suggested I find another doctor. Moving on ... I wasted enough time.
The support staff, especially with scheduling are absolutely without a doubt, the worst for customer service! I have called 4 times and once by email leaving messages to return my call for scheduling an appointment. So far, after two weeks, I still have not received a call back! If this is how they run their business, I may and/or will go somewhere else. Unbelievable!!!
