The diagnosis that they communicated to me was ambiguous - there were two ways to interpret it. I repeatedly attempted to get them to clarify, even giving them A/B options to pick from. Their responses answered questions that weren't asked, were passive aggressive, and some were even clearly copy-and-paste (their last response was identical to the original communication). They appeared more focused on getting me to book more appointments and tests, referencing medical conditions that were completely out-of-scope for the concerns I came in for.
Our 4 year old son was referred to Swedish Sleep Medicine specialists by his Ear Nose and Throat team as he was experiencing breathing issues while sleeping. I was impressed with Dr Bandla’s team- their professionalism and comprehensive approach. They were kind, patient and thorough. As parents, we were anxious about our 4 year old having a sleep study but surprisingly our child had a very positive experience. We are so thankful to the wonderful facility and the care provided by the sleep tech Fatima and rest of the team. She was gentle and kind and connected with him instantly. The facility was comfortable with large room, TV, shower and also snacks and refreshments. After the sleep study, our follow-up consultation with Dr. Bandla was reassuring. He walked us through the results and provided us a plan moving forward. We are so grateful for the care the Swedish sleep team has provided for our son. If you're looking for a pediatric sleep doctor, look no further—Dr. Bandla and Swedish Sleep team are the best!
I am very dissatisfied with my patient experience. First and foremost are the sleep center's policies that discriminate against those who are required to perform military service. I was unable to meet the paperwork deadline due to military service and became disqualified from having the home sleep study mailed to me. No exceptions to policies are allowed even for real life situations. I've sent Dr. Lee a MyChart message asking for his assistance but apparently he doesn't work there any more. I was not informed that he is no longer a provider there and his MyChart messages are not monitored. The support staff are rude! Both people I talked to on the phone were cold and curt. I've spent months trying to get a resolution and it has been a waste of time. They do not care about putting patients first or creating a positive patient experience. I live east of Snoqualmie Pass and I am also a healthcare provider. I cannot drive to Issaquah to pick up the test without it adversely affecting my patient's care. I do not recommend the Swedish Sleep Center. I will be looking at other options that focus on delivering excellence in healthcare.
The sleep test I did is the worst experience. Before the sleep test, there were already two rounds of charged "visits" (virtual). One is with my physician in Swedish. The other one is with the physician (Morris Chang) in Swedish sleep medicine. Those two sessions are very simple question/answer sessions and basically the same in my opinion. Both of them charged me 400-500 dollars each for a useless session (very expensive and useless for a 30min-ish session). Why do we need 2 doctor visits for the very similar questions and charge the customer twice. And both of them are in Swedish (and doctor refers to another doctor in the same system so Swedish could charge you twice). Those online visits didn't get anywhere as I expected. They will always ask to do a sleep test. The test is delivered as an in-home test and they will charge you another 700 dollars. It's a very simple device you attach to your finger and chest. As an in-home test device, I expected some basic functionality from the device as "reset the test". But that device is designed not to give you this option so if for any reason you fail to complete the test (for example, in my case, I didn't have a full night sleep for the first night), there is no way you can to a reset and test again at home. You will need to bring the device back to Swedish and pay another 700 dollars to do another test. I don't think this is a fair situation for any patient especially I know the test I have done will not result in desired testing results. I asked to do another test without charging me again since the test is fulfilling its desired function. It should be considered as incomplete test. Plus, they don't tell you beforehand about all these (regardless your situation and testing result, as long as you take the device home once you will be charged once. They don't tell you what considered as a failed test, how long you need to sleep to consider a successful test...). I'm only expecting something very simple:"I had a bad night sleep. Can I reset this device to test again at home?" I don't believe there is any extra cost for such kind of ask. But if you assume that you will be treated as a normal patient and have your rights to do a re-test because a bad night sleep, you are wrong. They will use a ton of reasons as excuse to either get you into more expensive in-lab test or another separately billed in-home test. I'm not trying to be unreasonable as a patient. I told them that I will be easily satisfied with your expert decision if I believe the in-home test is delivered as expected (such as "I believe my last night sleep is a good one and the sleep data can be used for the test"). But in my case, I don't even believe the test is delivered in its desired form and obviously the process is set up to not even let patient to re-test in those situations (just to maximize Swedish profit). At this point I'm charged around 1500 dollars but just with an inconclusive test result. I think Swedish just lost a customer/patient forever. I will share this experience with all my colleagues and friends (and others on the internet) so they can avoid the same trap.
I was sent through the choice program from the V.A. And saw a physician here. She was great. Had actually worked at the V.A. Before and reassured things that happen at Swedish are not similar to them and I can tell you my quality of life has been so much better ever since! Sleep techs and front office are very nice too
