**UPDATE I wanted to update my review after my most recent experience. I went back for my study again last night, and the tech this time was AMAZING. She took the time to bring me into a room, explain everything, and made sure I felt comfortable. When I dropped it off today, she even followed up to see how everything went. I wish I could remember her name. I work in healthcare, so I completely understand that things happen. My frustration the first time could have been eased with just a little more accountability, especially given how long I've been waiting for results. That said, this latest experience was a huge improvement, and I really appreciate the care I received this time I absolutely love my sleep doctor, but dealing with the sleep center itself has been a headache. I've been waiting months to have my sleep study done, and when I was finally scheduled to pick up the equipment, things still didn’t go smoothly. The day of my pickup, there was a snowstorm coming. I was originally scheduled for the afternoon, but I called to see if I could come in earlier. They told me yes, because they were closing at 12 PM anyway. Thank goodness I called myself, or I would have driven there in a snowstorm without being notified of the early closure. When I arrived (I was told to wear loose clothing so someone could show me how to use the machine that night) I was just handed the device and told to put the batteries in, no real instructions were given. That night, when I went to set everything up, I had to rely on the written directions and a YouTube tutorial. But when I put the batteries in, the machine didn’t turn on. According to the tutorial, the lights should have been on until I laid down, and the oxygen sensor should have stayed on the whole time and the light wasn't on. So I thought oh maybe it's the batteries. I tried using my own batteries, and while it eventually turned on, I wasn't sure how much data was collected because when I woke up everything was off again. After waiting months for this test, I was hoping it still recorded enough data. Unfortunately, when I received my results, it confirmed that the study only recorded 69 minutes of sleep before shutting off. I was beyond frustrated because why would they send me home with a machine without making sure it was working properly? When Shawna called to reschedule, she insisted the batteries were brand new out of the box, which felt dismissive/gaslighting because they clearly weren’t working. I even tested them in my remote at home. This is an expensive study, and I’m sure my insurance will still be billed for it. The sleep center needs to take the right steps to ensure patients receive working equipment. Otherwise, it’s like taking an X-ray without film, completely useless and a waste of time for everyone.
While our experience at the sleep study itself was fine, it has been nothing but a headache ever since. It took almost two months to receive results as they somehow lost the records (stating we were a no-show), then they overcharged us because they did not have the correct insurance information. After we gave them all the info they needed, it still was not entered correctly, and we were sent to collections. They have stated it was all a mistake, but we are still waiting for it to get cleared up. I hope and trust they can work to improve this experience for future patients.
