If I could give less than one star I would. The nursing staff are not professional on the phone. They don’t know why they called you and then can’t remember who it is THEY called. Continue to use the wrong name after being corrected multiple times. This is when they actually do call you. It often takes days to get a return call. Patients beware. They will put you on speaker phone and never tell you. You have no idea who your conversation is actually with. They have ZERO tolerance for patients to be upset or make a mistake talking to staff but DO NOT hold their staff to the same standards. If you are going to listen in on one call you should listen in on all of them so you get the whole story.
I had a good experience with Dr Brown & Dr Moon. They were both consistent with trying to improve any side-effects from medication while controlling epilepsy. I've gone at least 2yrs without a grand mal seizure. I gave 3 stars because of the lack of urgency when it comes to being seen asap after seizures did occur. Also, getting RX's refilled is an adventure - be patient.
If I could give zero stars I would, but since that isn’t an option I guess I’ll have to give atleast 1. I have been extremely disappointed by this clinic and Dr. Kaplan, himself. As I was experiencing symptoms that were suggestive of a certain autoimmune disease I asked several times if he could check labs, etc. to rule the possibility of having this out. He told me the first time that I did not have this disease. The second time was via a mymercy message where he had his nurse cancel my appt scheduled for the next day and to get a second opinion. No referral was placed to another doctor, nothing, but patient abandonment. Turns out I DID have the auto immune disease that I had asked about that he told me I didn’t have and wouldn’t check labs for. Please rethink before scheduling with Dr. Kaplan.
I've been seeing doctor Fomin for years now. He has always been professional. His nursing staff, when I visited earlier this year, was wonderful. I went in to talk about the fact that I had trouble sleeping, and see what I could do about it. I had spine surgery last year, and am still dealing with pain in other parts of my spine waking me up through the night. The nurse practitioner listened to me, and laid out a game plan on what to try and do. Since that visit, I've seen a rapid decline. I was told at my visit that I could just call the nurses line to talk about my sleep medication, since I was just trying out new medication for the first time. I tried calling, about a month later, and received no feedback or help. The medication caused me to be awake all through the night, unable to sleep. Frustrated that I was receiving no callback or help, I went ahead and made an appointment. I, in the midst of work, did miss an appointment. I called, apologized, and rescheduled for the next available, a month and a half out. I knew I would have to wait, so agreed to the month and a half wait. It was, after all, my fault I missed the appointment. Now, a week before I was scheduled, they call saying they need to reschedule me. They then proceed to try and push it out another 2 months. I told them no, just cancel the appointment and that I will send the paperwork in for my files. If you call to reschedule, be willing to fit them in a week or so later. Pushing it out 2 months, after a patient is patiently waiting a month and a half, is unprofessional, and frankly neglect on your duties as a medical professional. The sad thing is, they used to be good. Now they are so over worked and scheduled that they are letting patients drop through the cracks. My advice, don't go here. Find someone else.
Dr. Kaplan has been my neurologist for a few years and he is very knowledgeable and respectful. I would definitely recommend him. This clinic however, is awful. They really need to step up their game. How disappointing it is to have calls and paperwork fall through the cracks. I was relocating to a new city, under new insurance and I needed help getting a refill on medication necessary for my condition. I called TWO months before needing a refill and NOTHING got done. I called many, many times leaving messages for the nurse to send a new prescription and prior authorization (due to new insurance)to my pharmacy. After almost two months, they told me I needed an appointment to get this done....which was the first thing I asked for at the beginning of this mess. So, I came in the day before I moved to a new state, paid for my visit, and thought for sure they have to get things all worked out. NOPE. I am now looking for a new PCP in a new state, hoping they can get a referral sent to a new neurologist and start this whole horrible process over again. Hopefully, I can get back on my treatment soon. I really hope for Dr. Kaplan and for all patients at this clinic, that things starts getting better. I could go on with more details, but it seems pointless. Extremely disappointed with this clinic and very glad I will not be going back.
