I had my sleep study last night, and my sleep technician was Traci. I was very nervous and anxious when I came in, but she was very patient, accommodating, and kind and made sure I felt comfortable. She made everything go so smoothly and talked me through all the steps.
Yesterday (August 1, 2025), I dropped off my husband and our 4.5-month-old son for his second sleep study. His first study, conducted at the Christ Hospital Outpatient Center on 95th Street, was a very positive experience. The technician there was incredibly kind, gentle, and supportive — especially helpful in easing my husband’s nerves and keeping our baby comfortable. For convenience, we scheduled this most recent study at a location closer to our home. Unfortunately, the experience was distressing and deeply disappointing. About an hour after drop-off, my husband called to say our son was crying uncontrollably — something very unusual for him. My husband, who is always able to soothe him, said the crying began the moment the male sleep technician started placing the wires. According to my husband, the technician was extremely rough, especially while applying gel and electrodes to our baby’s delicate head. He appeared visibly annoyed that our baby was crying and showed little patience or understanding. My husband repeatedly asked him to stop because our baby was clearly in distress, but the technician continued, saying, “I need this for the study, I don’t know what you want me to do.” We understand that procedures can be challenging with infants, and we respect that only one parent is allowed in the room. However, in cases involving young babies — particularly those with known health conditions — flexibility and compassion are key. It was clear that this technician lacked both the patience and experience necessary to work with infants. Ultimately, we made the difficult decision to cancel the study and I picked them up. When we got home, we noticed red marks along our son’s back — a clear sign he had experienced discomfort. Thankfully, he quickly returned to his usual happy self once home, confirming to us that he had been in pain during the appointment. I am extremely upset by how my baby was treated. As a parent — and especially as a mother navigating postpartum anxiety — this experience was not only disheartening but unacceptable. I plan to follow up with Advocate and our health plan to file a formal grievance, as I do not believe our son received appropriate or compassionate care.
I met with a Nurse Practitioner for assessment on needing a sleep study, this was done on a Telehealth visit. Anitra Kemp Major was by far the absolute WORST. Degrading, insulting, accusatory, defamatory, off topic, gross- just awful in every way to treat a patient. My children heard her rude comments which was worse. I wouldn’t treat an enemy the way she treated me. Lacks every bedside manner possible, lacks crass. She needs to brush up on proper manners. How to treat humans. I don’t think she’s a good nurse, or a good person. I think she was very discriminating and didn’t want to treat me. She wanted to insult me, which she did. I’ll never recommend, nor return to this trashy place.
How far the advocate healthcare system has fallen. It used be top of it's class now it's horrendous. As other posters had said 10 months ago that when calling for appointment that you will be placed on hold and then purposefully hung up on. I was hung up on for 2 hours until I finally blocked the caller ID on my phone and all of a sudden like magic somebody picked up. So in 10 months they have not fixed the issue. Disgusting customer service especially from a place that deals with customer well being.
The technician Erin was very attentive to my son. With him being autistic, he's very sensitive to touch and sounds. She was very patient and made the process smooth. This company is fortunate to have her❤️
