Lisa Barber was nothing short of a super hero, no joke and no exaggeration. The appointment for both my daughters (10 & 4) she was able to combine into one session on the comp (bc I don’t have a vehicle) and spent over an hour and a half with me going over every single detail and aspect of both my daughters sleep issues, patterns and questions. Her motto, after talking to her for an hour going over everything and her taking in every little detail, was to ‘only prescribe medicine if absolutely needed and to prescribe as little as possible and necessary’. To find a doctor that 1) listens to EVERYTHING I have to say, 2) is not going to jump straight to meds and immediately over medicate to just shut us up, and finally 3) is beyond kind, considerate and has a wonderful bedside manner is near impossible in central Texas. I will say that we waited over 3 months for this appointment bc she is so booked up but I can now say for good freaking reason! (Just for your reference, they do have a cancelation wait list you can ask to be put on.) During the hour and a half long appointment on the comp, my girls were understandably restless and unfortunately creating total chaos and wreaking havoc like never before in our home. My oldest is AuDHD and my toddler is every bit of 4yo and most definitely neurodivergent, so waiting around and being patient is not either of their strong suits. Every time my 4yo would demand my attention she would stop talking to me and engage with her to ask her for help, “hey love! Can you go find me your favorite dolly?!?” and off she would go, giving me at least 5 min of peace to talk with the doc. She did this over and over and over and had the patience of a freaking saint, this of course after the initial greeting exchange and asking both girls if they had any concerns they wanted to talk with her about, so she told the girls to go play, that they didn’t have to sit here for the rest of the appointment and go stir crazy. She went over our bedtime routine and their sleep hygiene … and here’s where I start to call her a super hero. Both my girls are neurodivergent and my oldest is autistic, so what works for 99% of other kids and is socially acceptable is not going to work for our family and my girls. There was ZERO judgment from her on our bedtime routine bc it works for us and SHE SAW THAT. I cannot even begin to count the number of doctors who either preach to me about what I should do or push me to do something I’m not comfortable with with my girls, not to mention something they’ve never done and don’t want to do. So for her to say, “Yup, your routine is awesome, it works for your family and is not harming them, please keep it up” is like a thousand pounds lifted off my shoulders. There are too many doctors who are so quick to judge and mom shame, it’s so disgusting and disgraceful. Then when it came to the hour mark and she suggested trying a tiny dose of a medication, bc I myself was not getting any sleep so none of us are able to think straight, she INCLUDED ME in the decision on what medication to try, going over allll the side effects of each (which btw no doctor has ever done for me or with me, even about myself) and what the benefits of each might be, and then before calling it in, RAN IT BY MY DAUGHTER who she was prescribing this for (10yo) to make sure she was on board with this. Like what?!? I honestly did not know doctors could be this compassionate, kind, caring, and tolerant of wild kids … like I’m still trying to wrap my head around all this. In total she spent over an hour and a half with me, going over every single detail, even looking up possible interactions between what she was considering prescribing and the homeopathic tinctures I’ve been giving both girls for over a year, to make sure they didn’t have a negative interaction. Oh, and yeah, she was sure to ask about literally everything both girls consume just to make sure they wouldn’t have any adverse reactions to anything.

The Dr. is great. I'm so tired of paying my bill at my appt and then they send me to collections. I've paid in full every time I go because you don't take our insurance. You send me to collections for $11.50? I paid in full when I was there. I've tried calling the office. No one knows what's going on. I've tried calling the billing department which is most likely in India, and I don't get anywhere with them. This is honestly ridiculous & you will most likely lose us as patients. Dr. Wolff is great, most of the other people that work there should not work in pediatrics. Kids go to the Dr scared and it's a lot of work taking them there. Maybe have a smile on your face or not be in such a bad mood. ALL in all, I'll be transferring my sone elsewhere. Always an issue.
